Zunyi

Located in the north of Guizhou province, Zunyi(遵义) is the second largest city in Guizhou province. It is also one of the 24 famous historical and cultural cities in China and one of the important cities in western China, belonging to the main area of national planned comprehensive development of the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze river and the central Guizhou industrial belt construction. It is adjacent to Tongren and Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Qiannan Autonomous Prefecture in the southeast, Guiyang city in the south, Bijie city in the southwest, Sichuan province in the west and Chongqing in the north. It is 308 kilometers south of Chongqing and 155 kilometers away from Guiyang. Zunyi is an important tourist destination in southwest China, which plays an important role in the "tourism golden triangle" formed by Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou provinces. The landscapes of Zunyi features mountains, waterfalls, rivers, grand valleys, forests and caves. Besides, Zunyi is the hometown of Maotai. 

Highlights: 

• Red Culture: Zunyi is red, it is not so much a place name as a humanistic concept and revolutionary mark. In 1935, the Chinese communist party held the famous "Zunyi meeting" here, which became a crucial turning point of the party's life and death. Therefore, Zunyi was dubbed as "the city of turning and the capital of conferences". 
• Famous Attractions: Zunyi has beautiful mountains and rivers, as well as unique scenery, especially featuring mountain, water, forest and cave. Chishui Danxia Landform, Chishui Grand Waterfall and Chishui river are well-known in Zunyi. 
• Famous Liquors: Zunyi is clear and fragrant because of its fine liquors. Maotai, Xijiu Liquor(习酒), Dongjiu Liquor(董酒) and other household famous liquors are produced here. Since ancient times, people who love liquor have regarded it as a paradise on earth. Here lies the famous Maotai Town of Renhuai City. 
• Tea Culture: Two famous tea seas in Zunyi are Fenggang and Meitan, they are the towns of famous tea in China. 
• Ethnic Groups: There are Tujia, Yi, Bai, Dai, Dai, Zhuang, Miao, Hui, Gelao, Lisu, Lahu, Wa, Naxi, Yao, Zang, Jingpo, Bulang, Buyi, Achang, Hani, Xibe, Pumi, Mongol, Nu, Jinuo, Deang, Shui, Man, Dulong and other ethnic groups distributed in Zunyi.
