Morning | Nanjing Road & The Bund
At around 08:00 AM, your private English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel to begin the tour.
Start with a walk along Nanjing Road, China’s premier shopping street stretching over 5.5 kilometers. Once known as the “No.1 Commercial Street in China,” it showcases a mix of historic department stores, modern shopping malls, and vibrant street life, reflecting Shanghai’s commercial prosperity.
Continue to the Bund, Shanghai’s most iconic waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River. Lined with grand colonial-era buildings in Gothic, Romanesque, and Art Deco styles, the Bund represents Shanghai’s early 20th-century role as an international trading hub. From here, admire the dramatic contrast between the historic architecture and the modern skyline of Pudong across the river.
Midday | Classical Garden & Local Lunch
Next, visit Yuyuan Garden, a renowned Ming Dynasty classical garden located in Shanghai’s old town. Wander through its exquisite pavilions, ornate halls, zigzag bridges, rockeries, tranquil ponds, and covered corridors. Every element of the garden reflects traditional Chinese aesthetics and philosophy, making it one of the finest gardens south of the Yangtze River.
Enjoy lunch (included) at a local restaurant, offering a taste of authentic Shanghai cuisine and a chance to relax before the afternoon sightseeing.
Afternoon | Spiritual & Modern Shanghai
After lunch, head to Jade Buddha Temple, a revered Buddhist temple originally built in 1928. The temple is famous for its two jade Buddha statues imported from Myanmar, symbolizing purity and serenity. Stroll through the incense-filled halls, and if fortunate, witness monks performing Buddhist rituals or chanting ceremonies, offering insight into Shanghai’s living spiritual traditions.
Continue to the futuristic Oriental Pearl TV Tower, one of Shanghai’s most recognizable landmarks. Combining ancient Chinese design concepts with 21st-century technology, the tower rises above the city skyline. Ascend to the observation deck to enjoy a spectacular bird’s-eye view of Shanghai, overlooking the Huangpu River, the Bund, and the sprawling urban landscape below.
Tour End
After completing the visits, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Service ends, leaving you with lasting impressions of Shanghai’s unique blend of history, culture, and modern vitality.
