Liupanshui, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guizhou province, is located in the west of Guizhou. The city was officially established in 1978 with the approval of the state council. Liupanshui lies in the junction of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, the watershed of the upper reaches of the Yangtze river and the pearl river, the Banks of the Nanpanjiang and Beipanjiang rivers, rich in mineral resources, is a heavy industry city with the main industry of energy raw materials. With convenient transportation, it is an important railway hub city and one of the distribution centers of logistics in southwest China. As the third largest city in Guizhou province, Liupanshui is also the main base of the national power transmission from west to east and an important junction city of the Nanning, Guiyang and Kunming economic belt of the western development of China. Liupanshui is rich in tourism resources, and because of its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, it has been listed as one of the top ten summer resort cities in China for many times.
