China Huizhou Culture Museum has rich collections including nearly 100,000 cultural relics, for examples, painting and calligraphy, three carvings in Huizhou, bronze ware, jadeware, miscellaneous, ancient books, Huizhou documents, ink-stand, Huizhou ink, etc. China Huizhou Culture’s leading idea is that “man is an integral part of nature”. So Huizhou Culture museum is not only a collection of arts, but also a reflection of the harmonious relationship between human and nature.

Wen Fu Ink Stick

In the gallery on the second floor, you can find a ink stick, which is broken into two parts and bearing the Chinese characters “wen fu” (lit. mansion of literature), lies in a cushioned brocade box. It was made more than a thousand years ago in the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127). At the time it was excavated in 1978, it had long been soaked in water but was still intact. Indeed, it is a testimony to Huizhou’s time-honored intellectual tradition and superb craftsmanship.
