Zhengzhou is the regional capital of Henan Province, a megacity which comprises 6 urban districts, 5 county-level cities and 1 county. It is geographically located in the center of China, south of the middle reach of Yellow River. This tour will take you to explore the city highlights of Zhenzhou, including Yellow River Scenic Area, Zhenzhou Dahecun Ruins and Zhenzhou Museum. Besides, it will take you to visit the Shaolin Temple to fully appreciate the Shaolin Culture of China.

Zhenzhou Arrival:Yellow River Scenic Area, Zhenzhou Museum

Arrive at Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province. Met by our English speaking tour guide and then head to Yellow River Scenic Area. Zhengzhou Yellow River Scenic Area is a National 4A Class tour region which is located at 30 kilometers to the northwest of the Zhengzhou. The scenic area is surprisingly beautiful. As seen from a high point in this scenic area, the mighty Yellow River rushes by and demonstrates tremendous force with rolling and falling of the river's torrents.

Then return to the city center to visit Zhengzhou Museum. Zhengzhou Museum is a local comprehensive museum. It is the collection, display, exhibition, education and scientific research institution for cultural relic specimen in Zhengzhou City area. The museum has quite rich heritage collections, with a total collection of more than 50,000 pieces of cultural relics, such as ancient animal fossils, Neolithic production and living appliances, bronzes, jade and original porcelain. Zhengzhou Museum is an important window to show the long history and splendid culture in Zhengzhou.

Zhenzhou - Dengfeng: Dengfeng Observatory, Shaolin Temple, Pagoda Forest, Kung Fu Show

After breakfast, drive southwest for about 80km to the city of Dengfeng. On the route, make a detour to visit Dengfeng Observatory (Gaocheng Astronomical Observatory), a World Heritage Site in Duke Zhou Gong's Temple, Gaocheng Town, near Dengfeng. The great observatory was constructed in 1276 in the early Yuan Dynasty to observe the movement of the sun, the stars and record time.

Move on to Shaolin Temple. Shaolin Temple is established among flourished forests in Mountain Song, so it attained the name "Shaolin". Shaolin Temple was first built in 495AD by Emperor Xiaowen in Beiwei Dynasty for the purpose of housing the famous Indian monk, Batuo, who came to Luoyang, the ancient capital for spreading Buddhism at that period. The Shaolin Temple has many legends and mysteries surround it. The origin of martial arts and the origin of Kung Fu surround the vague mysteries of the Shaolin Temple and the Shaolin Monks.

You will visit Shaolin Temple, Pagoda Forest, a graveyard for the monks through the ages and watch Kung Fu Show performed by the professional performance team from Shaolin Tagou Kung Fu School. Shaolin Kung Fu is the most influential martial arts schools in China.

Stay overnight in Dengfeng.

Zhenzhou - Dengfeng

Sightseeing and Activities: Zhongyue Temple
Accommodation: None
Meals: Lunch

After breakfast, first visit Zhongyue Temple. Zhongyue Temple is 5km to the north of Dengfeng city center. It is an important Taoist temple in China dedicated to the God of Mount Songshan. It was originally built in Eastern Zhou Dynasy in 770 BC. In Wei Dynasty, it was renamed Zhongyue Temple and became a taoist temple. Zhongyue Temple was further expanded in the successive dynasities of Tang, Song, Ming and Qing.

After lunch, drive 80 km back to Zhengzhou. You are transferred to Zhengzhou airport or railway station for your next destination.
