Explore the Inspiritual Home of Henan Merchants

In Zhengzhou, there are some manors built by ancient Henan merchants, which have a long history. The most famous is "Kangbaiwan Manor", which is one of the three largest manors in the country and is known as the spiritual home of Henan merchants. "Kang Bai wan(康百万)" is a general designation for the Kang Yingkui family(康应魁家族) since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is famous all over the country for the conferring of Empress Dowager Cixi. The Kangbaiwan Family has been rich for 12 generations and more than 400 years and has become a successful model for Henan merchants. Others include Zhang Gao Manor and Liu Zhenhua Manor.

The Hometown of Yellow Emperor and Ancestor Worship Ceremony

Zhengzhou Xinzheng was a kingdom of Xiong family in the ancient time. Emperor Xuanyuan, the first ancestor of Chinese culture, was born, started his career and built his capital here. It is a holy place for Chinese people at home and abroad to search for their roots and worship their ancestors. Every year on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month, there is a worship ceremony in the hometown of the Yellow emperor to honor the ancestor of Chiese nation, the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan. Hundreds of millions of Chinese descendant and overseas Chinese at home and abroad travel thousands of miles to search for their roots.

Shaolin Kungfu

Shaolin temple, located in Dengfeng of Zhengzhou, at the foot of the Wuru peak of Mount Songshan, is the birthplace of Shaolin martial arts. The Shaolin temple is famous for Shaolin Kungfu, and has the reputation of “the ancestral temple of Zen Buddhism, the most famous temple in the world”. Therefore, Zhengzhou is also known as “the center of heaven and earth, the capital of Kung Fu”.
