Shiliwang Hui Ethnic Town in Yucheng City, Dezhou

Shiliwang Hui Town (十里望回族镇) is located in Yucheng City (禹城市), Dezhou (德州), Shandong Province, China. It lies to the west of the main urban area of Yucheng and is the only ethnic minority township in Dezhou. Shiliwang is one of four ethnic minority townships in the province, home to a significant population of Hui people. The town’s name originates from the story of the legendary Great Yu (大禹) observing flood control efforts across a ten-li area (approximately 5 kilometers) from this location.

In September 1958, the town was established as the Shiliwang Commune. In November 1986, it was renamed Shiliwang Hui Township, and in June 2010, it was upgraded to Shiliwang Hui Town.

Geography

Shiliwang Huizu Town is situated in the central part of Yucheng City, bordering the urban area to the east, with the urban street to the south, Fangsi Town (房寺镇) to the west, and Zhangzhuang Town (张庄镇) to the north. The administrative area covers 57.38 square kilometers.

As of 2011, Shiliwang Huizu Town has a cultivated land area of 41,000 mu (approximately 2,733 hectares).

By the end of 2011, the total population of Shiliwang Huizu Town was approximately 34,000, with a permanent urban population of 3,176 and an urbanization rate of 9.34%. The male population was 18,605 (54.7%), while the female population was 15,395 (45.3%). The population density was 597 people per square kilometer.

Shiliwang Huizu Town is accessible via National Highway 101 (101国道) and Provincial Highway 316 (316省道), with the Jinghu Railway (京沪铁路) passing through the area.
