Geography

Located in the central part of Zhejiang province, Jinhua is east to Taizhou, south to Lishui, west to Quzhou, and north to Shaoxing and Hangzhou. It has a 129 kilometers' length from north to south and 151 kilometers' length from west to east, covering about 2,044 square kilometers. Its city center is at the intersection of Dongyang River, Wuyi River and Jinhua River.

Located in the east of Jinqu Basin, the topography of Jinhua is high in the north and south, and low in the middle. Surrounded by mountains in three sides and three rivers and one basin strewing at random are the basic characteristics of Jinhua geography.

Climate

Jinhua belongs to subtropical monsoon climate. Its general characteristics of climate there are four distinctive seasons, moderate temperature, abundant heat, rich rainfall and distinctly dry and wet season. In spring, temperature rises quickly, with changeable temperature. Also, the end of spring and the beginning of summer is peak time for rainfall, with hail and high wind sometimes. The summer there is long. And the period of autumn is short but with cool weather and wet air, which is quite suitable time for traveling. As for winter, it’s cold and dry.

Culture & History

Jinhua, built in Xia and Shang dynasties, has a long history of more than 2,200 years, which has experienced different times so that it has profound and abundant culture. In 2017, the city bureau of statistics released the city's economic operation situation analysis report. Its gross domestic product reached about 387 billion RMB, with an increase of 6.5%, showing a promising future of Jinhua economic development.
