? Kunming Theatre
Founded in 1957 and officially opened in 1958, Kunming Theatre is a historic and comprehensive performing arts venue located in the heart of Kunming. After multiple upgrades and renovations—including a major stage facilities upgrade (2016–2018), the opening of a new small theatre (2019), and the first phase of its latest renovation (2025)—it now features two main performance spaces:
Since 2004, the theatre has focused on commercial performance operations, introducing numerous world-class productions such as Riverdance and Swan Lake, while also taking original Yunnan plays on nationwide tours. Its popular ticketing programs, the “Yuexiang Card” and “Drama Fan Prepaid Card”, have made performances more accessible to the public.
