Garze has three airports: Kangding Airport, Daocheng Yading Airport and Garze Gesar Airport. Kangding Airport

Kangding airport, 4238 meters above sea level(the third highest airport in the world), is located in Sidingcuo, Zheduo mountain, about 38 kilometers away from Kangding city. It is the first civil airport in Garze prefecture. The construction was officially started in September 2006, and officially opened to the public on April 26, 2009, which created the shortest construction time of the civil airport in China at that time. At present, Kangding airport has opened three air routes to Chengdu, Chongqing and Lhasa.

Kangding Flights

On October 22, 2008, a Boeing 737-700 plane of China Eastern Airlines took off from Kunming and arrived at Kangding Airport via Chengdu, marking the opening of this route. After opening, it only takes 35 minutes from Chengdu to Kangding. This is the first time that human beings fly over Gongga snow mountain, the "king of mountains in Sichuan".

Shuttle Bus

The pick-up place of the shuttle bus in Kangding city is at the gate of the airport company (No.28, Jianlu street, Xiangyun Hotel, Kangding), and the pick-up place at the airport is the parking lot. There are 39-seat Yutong buses and 19-seat buses. Tickets are subject to floating fare according to the market and seasonal changes; due to the change of flight time, the departure time will also change. Pay attention to the flight time and avoid missing flight.

Daocheng Yading Airport

Daocheng Yading airport is located in Haizi mountain, Sangdui Township, the north of Daocheng County, with an altitude of 4411 meters, which is the highest civil airport in the world. Daocheng Yading airport is about 50km away from the county seat and was officially opened on September 16, 2013. It opens air routes to Chengdu, Chongqing, Lijiang, Guiyang, Kunming, Xian, Mianyang, etc.

Daocheng Yading Flights

On November 23, 2012, after an hour and 30 minutes flight, Air China Airbus A319 plane landed at Daocheng Yading airport in Garze Tibetan area, Sichuan Province, marking the successful test flight of the world's highest civil airport. On September 16, 2013, the route from Chengdu Shuangliu Airport to Daocheng Yading airport was first opened, which was first opened by Air China.

Airport Transfer

Shuttle Bus

The shuttle bus from Yading airport to Daocheng County depart at the gate of the airport when the bus is full after the flight landing, the whole journey takes about one hour. The bus from Daocheng County to the airport departs at 06:00 am at the gate of Airport Hotel(Xiangyun Airport).

The departure time of the bus from Daocheng County to Shangri-La Town is 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the gate of the airport hotel of the county. The whole journey is expected to be 2 hours. The bus from Shangri-La town to Daocheng county departs from the gate of Shangri-La Airport Hotel at 5pm.

Taxi

Besides shuttle bus, tourists can also take the taxi to and from the airport. There are taxis at the gate of Daocheng airport. It is 122 kilometers from Daocheng airport to Riwa township. You can take a taxi directly to Riwa township and get to the gate of Yading Nature Reserve. You need to take the scenic bus to enter Yading town.

Garze Gesar Airport

With a distance of 52km from Garze County, Garze Gesar Airport is located at the junction of Laima Township and Cuo'a Township at the altitude of 4068m. Construction started in June 2017 and it was officially opened on September 16, 2019. On September 16, 2019, the A319 airliner, which was first launched by Sichuan Airlines, landed at Sichuan Garze Gesar airport, marking the official operation of the fifth civil airport with an altitude of more than 4000m in China. At present, Chengdu-Garze route has been opened. In the future, it will open flights to Chongqing, Xi'an, Kunming, etc.

Airport Transfer

The shuttle bus from Garze Gesar airport to Garze County has been opened. The bus can accommodate more than 150 passengers at the same time. The ticket price is 35 yuan per person for a single journey, and it also provides door-to-door pick-up service.

• Departure time: 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, twice a day.
