Qinghai Lake is famous as the Paradise of Migrant Bird. It is the most noteworthy tourist attraction in Qinghai Lake, which is regarded as the top of the eight key bird natural preserves in China. From May to July every year, there are millions of migrant birds living here.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Xining Arrival

Sightseeing and Activities: Dongguan Great Mosque

Take the morning flight or train to Xining and tour guide will pick you up from airport or train station. Then we will head to visit Dongguan Great Mosque, which is one of the “four great mosques in China”.

Day 2 Xining – Bird Insland

Sightseeing and Activities: Jinyintan Prairie, Bird Insland
Accommodation: Bird Insland
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

In the morning, drive about 2.5 hours to Bird Insland and we will stop to visit Jinyintan Prairie on the way, a typical pastoral area, where there are more than 300,000 cattle and sheep live here.

Then watch birds and enjoy the beautiful views of Qinghai Lake.

Day 3 Bird Insland

Full day at the Bird Insland to watch birds and enjoy the beautiful views of Qinghai Lake.

Day 4 Bird Insland – Xining

Sightseeing and Activities: Bird Insland, Qinghai Museum

Enjoy the birds again and then drive back to Xining. Afterwards, visit the Qinghai Museum, which is featured with three exhibition center: Qinghai Protoculture, Qinghai Ethnic Collections and Tibetan Buddhism Arts.

Day 5 Xining Departure

Today we will visit Taer Monastery, the birthplace of lamaism shamanism founder Tsongkhapa, which is some 25 kilometers from Xining. It is a Tibetan lama monastery with a history of over 400 years with the “three treasures of the monastery”: mural, barbola and butter sculptures.

After that, be transferred to the airport or train station for your next destination.
