Located in the mountains, Guizhou province is known for its inconvenient transportation. In the past decade, with the rapid development of Guizhou's transportation system, the situation has changed a lot. Today, airlines, high-speed railways and expressways connect the cities and counties in Guizhou province.

How to Get to/away Guizhou

Generally speaking, if you want to travel to Guizhou, your first destination will be Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province. Now, Guiyang can be available by air, train and long-distance bus from other major cities, such as Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai and Xi'an


For those who prefer to fly to Guizhou, they should go to Guiyang by flight first. So far, there are 10 airports in Guizhou, with other airports are under construction. They are Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, Zunyi Maotai Airport, Tongren Fenghuang Airport, Xingyi Wanfenglin Airpport, Anshun Huangguoshu Airport, Qiandongnan Liping Airport, Qiannan Libo Airport, Bijie Feixiong Airport, Kaili Huangping Airport and Liupanshui Yuezhao Airport

Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, referred to as "Guiyang Airport", is located in the eastern suburb of Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China. The airport is 1139 meters above sea level, 11 kilometers from the center of Guiyang city, and is a 4E civil international airport. At present, Guiyang Airport has 90 domestic routes and 14 international and regional routes, connecting Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Xi'an and other major cities in China, as well as international cities such as Seoul, Osaka, Nagoya and Bangkok.

1. Bus

You can take No.216, No.254 or No.258 bus to Guiyang Airport. It costs only 2-3 yuan.

There are 5 airport bus lines:

3. Taxi

Guiyang airport is 11 kilometers from the downtown of Guiyang City. Taxis are easily available to get to airport. 

Train/High-speed Train

Guiyang is the hub of southwest China\'s railway, with Guiyang as the center, there are 5 railways passing through Guiyang Railway Station, namely Guiyang-Liuzhou, Chongqing-Guiyang, Zhuzhou-Guiding, Guiyang-Kunming, Nanning-Kunming Railways. These railways connect Chongqing, Chengdu, Liuzhou, Kunming, and extends to Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Wuhan and other major cities. In addition, in Guizhou Province, you can also take trains to Anshun, Kaili, Liupanshui, Yuping, Duyun and other places.

Guiyang North Railway Station, Guiyang Bei for short, is a high-speed Railway Station in the southwest of China. The station is a stop on the Shanghai-Kunming, Guizhou-Guangzhou, Chengdu-Guizhou, Sichuan-Guizhou high speed railway lines. It is easy to get there by light rail and public bus. 

2. Guiyang East Railway Station贵阳东站
Address: County Road 138, Wudang District, Guiyang City贵阳市乌当区138县道

Guiyang East Railway Station, Guiyang Dong for short, is the intermediate station of Shanghai-Kunming High Speed Railway, also the departure station/terminal station of Guizhou-Guangzhou high-speed railway, Guiyang-Kaiyang railway and Chongqing-Guiyang railway. 

3. Kaili South Railway Station凯里南站
Address: Jinhui Avenue, Kaili City, Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture黔东南苗族侗族自治州凯里市金汇大道

Kaili South Railway Station was put into operation on June 18, 2015. Kaili South Railway Station is one of the major stations in Guizhou section of Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway, with more than 10 surrounding counties and cities of passenger flow radiation. It takes only 35 minutes to get to Guiyang North Station, 25 minutes to Sansui County and 35 minutes to Tongren South Station (Yuping East Station).

4. Anshun West Railway Station安顺西站
Address: Datun Village, Yaopu Town, Xixiu District, Anshun City安顺市西秀区幺铺镇大屯村

Anshun West Railway Station is a newly built high-speed railway station in Anshun city. It is a stop on the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway, 12 kilometers from the Anshun railway station. It was officially opened on December 28, 2016.

5. Duyun East Railway Station都匀东站
Address: Yundong Town, Duyun Economic Development Zone, Duyun City, Qiannan黔南布依族苗族自治州都匀市都匀经济开发区匀东镇

Duyun East Railway Station is located in the Duyun Economic Development Zone of Duyun City, and is one of the 21 passenger stations on the Guiguang(Guiyang-Guangzhou) high-speed railway line. On December 26, 2014, Duyun East Station was officially opened. After that, it takes only 47 minutes from Duyun East Station to Guiyang, and 20 minutes to Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport. It takes only 2-4 hours to get to Guilin of Guangxi and Guangdong Pearl River Delta.

Long-distance Bus

Guizhou is a traffic hub province in southwest China, an important transit stop leading to the coastal area from northwest and southwest. Focusing on Guiyang, Guizhou has basically formed the highway network of connecting various cities and counties.

With Guiyang as the center, the expressways connect all famous scenic spots, ancient towns and minority villages. It takes only 2-3 hours to move from one attraction to another by expressway. The first high-grade highway in southwest China - Guiyang-Huangguoshu highway has been opened to traffic, and there are also high-grade highways from Guiyang to Zunyi and Guiyang to Xinzhai in Guangxi. It is convenient to get around Guizhou by car.

Jinyang bus terminal is the largest passenger station in Guizhou Province, and most of long-distance buses start and end there. There are also many tour buses to take you to various scenic spots. In this Internet age, Jinyang bus terminal opened WeChat online ticket buying platform in late November 2016.

How to Get Around Guizhou


When getting around a city or a county, taxi is always a good choice, convenient and efficient. 

City Bus

Buses are running on the main roads of a city. In Guiyang, you can get to bus stations, railway stations and airport conveniently by city bus. 


Nowadays, bicycle sharing can be seen around at campuses, bus stops and subway stations in the cities. And in the scenic spots, it\'s not hard to find a place to rent a bike. 

Regular Bus

Almost all cities and counties in Guizhou have bus terminals, making different parts of Guizhou connect better. It will be a novel experience when heading for a place by local regular buses. You will contact with local people better during your Guizhou journey. But some small places and remote villages have poor road condition, your patience is needed in this case. 


In Guiyang, the first subway line(Metro Line 1) was tested on December 28, 2017, and opened on December 1, 2018. Another line is under construction. The Guizhou subway is just getting started and still needs improvement.
