Overview
Changchuan Hui Township (长川回族乡) is located in the western part of Lintan County (临潭县), Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (甘南藏族自治州), Gansu Province (甘肃省). It is bordered to the east by Yangyong Township (羊永乡), to the south by Kaerqin Township (喀尔钦乡) in Zhuoni County (卓尼县), to the west by Chengguan Town (城关镇), and to the north by Shencang Township (申藏乡) in Zhuoni County. The township covers an area of 47.31 square kilometers. As of 2018, the registered population was 11,446 people. By November 1, 2020, the resident population was 7,942.
The township’s economy is supported by various businesses, including eight comprehensive stores or supermarkets with an area of over 50 square meters each as of 2018.
Historical Development
- Post-1949: After 1949, Changchuan Hui Township was governed as part of District 2 (Old City) and Sanchuan District (三川区), named Pinghe Township (和平乡).
- September 7, 1958: Pinghe Commune (和平公社) was established.
- December 20, 1958: It was incorporated into Yangyong Commune (羊永公社).
- Early 1962: The area was reorganized into Qianjiazai Commune (千家寨公社).
- September 2, 1962: The name was changed to Changchuan Commune (长川公社).
- 1984: Renamed to Changchuan Township (长川乡).
Administrative Divisions
- 2011: The township was divided into ten village committees: Changchuan Village (长川村), Mudi Po Village (木地坡村), Wanghuai Village (汪槐村), Mapai Village (马牌村), Tana Village (塔那村), Qianjiazai Village (千家寨村), Fengqi Village (冯旗村), Shaba Village (沙巴村), Minjiazui Village (敏家咀村), and Yangsheng Village (阳升村). It also had 49 village groups.
- June 2020: The administrative structure remained the same with the ten villages: Yangsheng Village (阳升村), Minjiazui Village (敏家咀村), Qianjiazai Village (千家寨村), Shaba Village (沙巴村), Fengqi Village (冯旗村), Changchuan Village (长川村), Tana Village (塔那村), Wanghuai Village (汪槐村), Mapai Village (马牌村), and Mudi Po Village (木地坡村). The township government is based in Changchuan Village (长川村).
