Yonghe Border Port in Cangyuan County, Yunnan

Yonghe Border Port (永和口岸) is located in Cangyuan Va Autonomous County (沧源佤族自治县), Lincang City (临沧市), Yunnan Province (云南省), China. Situated 14 kilometers from the county seat, it borders Myanmar's Wa State (佤邦) and connects with the town of Mengmao (勐冒) in Myanmar via a bridge, creating the unique cross-border landscape of "One Bridge, Two Countries" and "One Monument, Two Countries."

1. Geographical Location and Cross-Border Features

Yonghe Border Port (永和口岸) is positioned at Border Marker 167 (界碑167号), which divides the boundary into two countries. The port is strategically located along the border, with just one bridge separating the port from Myanmar’s Wa State . The local Wa  people on both sides of the border maintain a long tradition of intermarriage and cross-border trade, sharing resources like roads and water.

2. Core Functions of the Port

As a crucial trade node in the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (中国-东盟自贸区), Yonghe Port (永和口岸) serves three major functions:

• Cross-Border Logistics: In 2024, the port handled 819,000 tons of cargo, including minerals, agricultural products, and more.

• Border Trade: The border trade value reached 380 million RMB in 2024, showing an increase of more than 60% compared to the previous year.

• Customs Services: With innovative models like "Advance Declaration"  and "Two-Step Declaration" , the port’s customs efficiency improved by 1.91% in 2024.

3. Economic Development Status

Yonghe Border Port (永和口岸) achieved several milestones in 2024:

• It became the first port in Yunnan (云南) to handle chemical exports, including processed products such as konjac and sugarcane .

• The port imported medicinal and food-grade products like Myanmar's sand ginger (缅甸砂仁), diversifying its trade goods.

• There were 258 registered businesses in the trade zone, with a total revenue exceeding 325 million RMB.

4. Infrastructure Development

The port is continually enhancing its infrastructure:

• A new business service center and commercial complex are expected to be completed by 2025.

• The first phase of the marble intelligent manufacturing base (大理石智能制造基地) has completed trial operations.

• The port is equipped with intelligent inspection and quarantine facilities and is building infrastructure to support cross-border e-commerce.

5. Cross-Border Law Enforcement Cooperation

In November 2024, Yonghe Border Port (永和口岸) facilitated the handover of 763 fraud-related suspects and associated goods to Myanmar through cooperation between the police forces of China and Myanmar. This highlights the role of the port as a critical cross-border law enforcement channel. Additionally, the port operates year-round, ensuring 24/7 customs clearance for cargo and passenger movement.
