Brief Introduction

Fuzimiao (夫子庙, Confucius Temple) is a famous local landmark in Nanjing. Nanjing Fuzimiao, is one of the four greatest Confucius Temples in China. It worships Confucius (Kongzi), a China’s great philosopher, educator and politician. When visiting Fuzimiao, it feels like visiting an antique shop or traveling back in time with the time machine. The temple is famous with its ancient architectures, Ming Dynasty’s constructions, water pavilions, painted boats, and terraces. Besides visiting the ancient buildings, tourists can also enjoy the local snacks and taking a night boat ride to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The Dacheng Hall

Dachengdian (大成殿, The Dacheng Hall) is the main hall that worships Confucius. It is the heart of the Fuzimiao (Confucius Temple). The Confucius Portrait displayed here is the best place to witness and experience the well-known Confucian culture and Folk culture.

Jiangnan Gongyuan

Jiangnan Gongyuan (江南贡院, Jiangnan Examination Hall) was built in the year of 1168 (Southern Song Dynasty). It is the largest examination hall of ancient China that could support up to 20,644 candidates. There were some famous and successful Chinese scholars including Tang Bohu (唐伯虎) and Lin Zexu (林则徐) who were once the examination candidates in here.

Wuyixiang

Wuyixiang (乌衣巷), located in the South Bank of Wendeqiao (文德桥), was the military camp of the Three Kingdoms period. Because the army was wearing a black uniform at that time, hence the name.

Qinhuai River

The Qinhuai River (秦淮河) is a tributary of the Yangtze with a total length of 110 km. It flows through central Nanjing and is called “Nanjing’s mother river”. It is the “life blood” of the city. Qinhuai River is a river that once played an important role in the political, economic and cultural development of the ancient city of Nanjing.

Zhanyuan Garden

Zhanyuan Garden(瞻园) is located at No. 208 Zhanyuan Road, west of Confucius Temple in Nanjing. It was built in Ming Dynasty. It is the oldest private garden in Nanjing. It is known as the “First Garden of Jinling” and has been listed as one of the key cultural relics protection units in China. It is the oldest garden existing in Nanjing with the 600-year old history.
Zhangyuan garden is the only well-preserved and publicly opened 600 years old’s Ming Dynasty’s palace. It was once the royal residences for the Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty. The name “Zhanyuan” was calligraphed by the emperor himself.

Bailuzhou Park

Located in the north of Wudingmen, Qinhuai District, Nanjing, Bailuzhou Park(白鹭洲公园) is an important part of the Qinhuai Scenic Belt of the Confucius Temple. It is the National 5A Tourist Scenic Spot and the largest park in the southern part of the old city of Nanjing, and a cultural park with Chinese style.
