9 Days 2022 Winter Olympics Tours with Beijing, Xian, Shanghai

Day 1 Arrival in Beijing

Upon your flight landing at Beijing Airport, our guide will meet you at the Arrival Hall. Then we will transfer you to the reserved hotel with a private van and help you check in. After that, you may rest at the hotel or go nearby to explore the city on your own.

With a history of more than 2000 years, Beijing is a city with both traditional charm and modern appeal. It will be also the first city ever to host both the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2022 Winter Olympics.

 
Day 2 Beijing

Tiananmen Square in Beijing

Your private Beijing tour starts from Tiananmen Square, then turn to the adjoining Forbidden City, a must-do when you are in Beijing. Apart from the impressive architecture, the Forbidden City also has a very fascinating history attached. Our guide will give you detailed explication and make the history come alive to you. An a la carte lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) is served at a very nice restaurant. In the afternoon, you will feel the scent of Old Beijing by taking the rickshaw through the old Hutong alleys. 

Day 3 Beijing

Today we will focus on the main competition venues of 2008 Olympic Games, some of which will also be used for the 2022 Winter Olympics. After visiting the beautiful Summer Palace, an ancient imperial summer retreat, you will go to the Beijing Olympic Park, where you will visit the Olympic National Stadium(Bird’s Nest). Remarkably, it hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, athletic events, and football final of the 2008 Summer Olympics. You will enter the stadium to see its interior structure. In the large park, you will also see the unique appearances of Aquatics Center (Water Cube) and the newly built Olympic Tower. Photos can be snapped afar. They make for good photos, especially at sunset.

Day 4 Beijing – Zhangjiakou

After breakfast, we will take you to visit the Sacred Way first. You will have a leisure walk along the path with animal and ancient official statues on either side. We believe that China Great Wall should be on the bucket list of all travelers. To complete this one, we arrange the Badaling Great Wall for you today. Please wear a pair of comfortable shoes as there are a lot of steps on the Great Wall. We also suggest you have an ample breakfast at the hotel, because restaurants nearby the site are in low quality and we do not arrange lunch today, you can have some light fast food by yourself. After that, our journey turns to Zhangjiakou City, bordering Beijing to the southeast. This city will host some of the events at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. After about one hour’ driving, you will arrive at Chongli County in Zhangjiakou. Our guide will help you check in at the hotel and you will stay one night here. 

Day 5 Zhangjiakou – Beijing-Xian

This morning, you will visit the Secrete Garden Ski Resort, which is chosen as the competition area for snow sports in 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. It is said that more than 20 golden medals will be awarded here in 2022. All the charge occurred in the resort is on your own and lunch is also on your own arrangement. After having lunch, we will start to drive along the famous Grassland Sky Road, a Chinese “US 66 Route” and take in the beautiful unspoiled landscape of vast grassland, deep valley, meandering river, wild sheep and cattle at the roadside, horses grazing, and high mountains in the distance. It’s like appreciating a long sightseeing scroll painting. Take your camera and capture the beauty. After that, we will transfer you to visit the Dajing Gate, one of the four famous gates of China Great Wall. The other three are Shanhaiguan Pass, Juyongguan Pass and Jiayuguan Pass. 

Day 6 Xian
Sightseeing and Activities: Terracotta Warriors, Xian Museum, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show

Terracotta Army, Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, Xian

Today visit the world famous Terracotta Warriors. The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. After that, visit the Xian Museum and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. At night, enjoy the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show(paid by yourself).

Day 7 Xian – Shanghai
Sightseeing and Activities: the City Wall, Shaanxi Provincial History Museum

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today visit the City Wall. Visitors can rent a bicycle and take a ride on the wall. And then visit Shaanxi Provincial History Museum, one of the first huge state museums with modern facilities in China and one of the largest with the large storage of cultural relics from the Shang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.

After lunch, drive to airport to board the flight to Shanghai. A local tour guide will pick you up at airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8 Shanghai
Sightseeing and Activities: Shanghai Museum, Yuyuan Garden, the Bund, Huangpu River cruise
Accommodation: Shanghai
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today visit Shanghai Museum to learn Chinese history, culture and art. Then off to the Yuyuan Garden to enjoy the classical Chinese garden with trees, flowers, ponds, bridges, rocks, pavilions, and halls. After lunch, stroll on the famous Bund and have a cruise on Huangpu River.
