Day 1 Yinchuan Arrival

Upon your arrival, tour guide will pick you up from airport or train station and then transfer to your hotel in Yinchuan city. It was once the capital of the Western Xia Empire.

Day 2 Yinchuan

Sightseeing and Activities: Helanshan Rock Carvings, Western Xia Tombs
Accommodation: Yinchuan

Helanshan Rock Carvings in Yinchuan, Ningxia

In the morning, head to visit Helanshan Rock Carvings. There are several tens of thousands of rock carvings by ancient nomadic tribes.

Then drive to visit Western Xia Tombs. It consists of 9 imperial mausoleums and 250 tombs of others. The mausoleums hold the remains of the imperial leaders of the Western Xia Dynasty.

After all the visit, transferred back to your hotel in Yinchuan.

Day 3 Yinchuan – Xining

Sightseeing and Activities: 108 Dagobas at Qingtongxia, Shapotou Tourist Area

Shapotou Scenic Area in Zhongwei

In the morning, drive about 100km southwards to visit 108 Dagobas at Qingtongxia, which are bulit at the side of Huang He River in Qingtongxia city. The Dagobas are arranged in twelve tapering rows of odd numbers – from 19 dagobas in the base row to 1 dagoba at the top row – form a large, equilateral triangle.

Then continue the tour to Shapotou Tourist Area. It is located in the southeastern line of Tengger Desert, about 20km away from Zhongwei County in Ningxia, and is regarded as one of the five most beautiful deserts in China. Activities like sand sliding, camel riding, sheepskin rafting, sand surfing are all available here.

Have Bonfire Party in the evening. Then we will take an overnight train to Xining.

Day 4 Xining

Sightseeing and Activities: Ta’er Monastery, North Hill Temple, Qinghai Provincial Museum

Qinghai Museum

Arrival at Xining at approximately 11:00am. The tour guide will pick you up from train station and transferred to your hotel in Xining.

After a bit of rest, head to visit Ta’er Monastery, 26km south of Xining, which is the birthplace of the Tibetan Buddhism master – Tsongkhapa. Appreciate the famous “three bests” – butter sculptures, the barbolas, and the murals.

Then move on to visit North Hill Temple to have a panorama view of the city. Afterwards visit Qinghai Provincial Museum, which is featured with three exhibition center: Qinghai Protoculture, Qinghai Ethnic Collections and Tibetan Buddhism Arts.

Day 5 Xining – Qinghai Lake – Xining

Chaka Salt Lake in Haixi, Qinghai

In the morning, drive to Qinghai Lake. We will spend the whole day here to view the breathtaking scenery. We will visit the Riyue Mountain, which also known as “Sun and Moon Mountain”, which is part of the magnificent Qilian Mountain Range. On either side of the pass, the Ri (Sun) and Yue (Moon) Pavilions were built to commemorate Princess Wencheng’s sacrifice.

Then drive back to your hotel in Xining.

Day 6 Xining Departure

After breakfast, transferred to Xining airport or train station for your next destination.
