Gulangyu Island and Fujian Tulou was both included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are must-see attractions when visiting Fujian. During this 5 days Fujian tour, we will take you experience the highlights in Xiamen, Nanjing and Yongding to see Gulangyu Island and earth buildings.

Day 1 Xiamen Arrival

Upon your arrival, met by the tour guide and transferred to the hotel. Free for the rest of the day to exlpore this city.

Day 2 Xiamen – Nanjing – Yongding

Sightseeing and Activities: Tianluokeng Tulou, Yuchanglou, Taxia village, Chengqilou
Accommodation: Hukeng

Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster in Nanjing County, Zhangzhou

Morning after breakfast, drive about 3 hours to Shuyang in Nanjing and visit Tianluokeng Tulou, Yuchanglou, and Taxia village. Tianluokeng Tulou cluster is one of the better known groups of Fujian Tulou. It consists of a square earth building at the center of a quincunx, surrounded by four round earth buildings. Yuchanglou is the oldest and biggest round earth building, famous for its tilted pillars, which covers an area of 6358 square meters with 5 storeys and 270 rooms. Taxia village is part of the Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster with fine environment and the healthy ways of life. People living here are longevous.

Then move on to Yongding for visiting Chengqilou in Gaobei Village. Built in 1709, it is massive round tulou with four concentric rings surrounding an ancestral hall at the center, four storeys and 72 rooms on each level.

Day 3 Yongding – Xiayang – Hukeng

Sightseeing and Activities: Chuxi Tulou Cluster, Nanxi Hakka Tulou cluster(Yanxianglou, Huanjilou)

Today we will continue the tulou tour to Chuxi Tulou Cluster and Nanxi Tulou Cluster. Chuxi Tulou Cluster is a group of earthen structures or “tulou” dating to the Ming Dynasty, embraced by green rolling hills and a winding stream named Peach Blossom Stream. The Nanxi Tulou cluster is the name applied to a section of the Nanxi Valley in Hukeng Town, Yongding County. The Yanxiang Lou, and Huanjilou in this large cluster were both built during the Qing Dynasty.

Day 4 Hukeng – Meilin – Xiamen

Sightseeing and Activities: Yongding Hakka Cutural Village, Heguilou, Changjiao Ancient Village, Huaiyuanlou

Heguilou (Hegui Building) in Nanjing County, Zhangzhou

Morning head to visit Yongding Hakka Cutural Village, which is the most concentrated of all earthen house clusters. Then drive about 1 hour to Meilin in Nanjing and visit Heguilou, Changjiao Ancient Village, Huaiyuanlou. Heguilou is the tallest of the rectangular shaped tulous built on swampland, about 3,000 square meters and 21.5 meters high with 5 storeys. Changjiao Ancient Village(also called Yunshuiyao village) is a time-honored ancient village with many banyans. Huaiyuanlou, nearby Yunshuiyao village, built in 1909, is one of the best protected double circular tulous in the area.

After the tour, drive back to Xiamen.

Day 5 Xiamen Departure

Gulangyu Island in Xiamen

In the morning, our tour guide will pick you up from hotel and then transfer you to the ferry. Take a 7-minute boat trip to Gulangyu Island and start today’s tour. Gulangyu Island is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site included in 2017, renowned for its beaches, winding lanes and varied architecture.

On the island, we will visit Hi Heaven to enjoy the South Music performance and Puppet Show, which is the largest old villa on the island. Then move on to Shuzhuang Garden and Piano Museum. Gulangyu hosts China’s only piano museum and was given the nickname of “Piano Island” or “The Island of Music”. Then transferred back to Xiamen.

After lunch, head to visit South Putuo Temple, a famous Buddhist temple founded in the Tang Dynasty. It is so named because it is south of the Buddhist holy site Mount Putuo in Zhejiang Province.

After the tour, driven to the airport for your next destination.
