Hong Kong Wetland Park

Why is Hong Kong Wetland Park so Special?

Hong Kong Wetland Park was originally just an ordinary wetland. While developing the Tin Shui Wai New Town, the Hong Kong government intends to use the land to rebuild the ecologically valuable land lost in the process of development.

Hong Kong Wetland Park is a conservation, education and tourism facility, located at the northern part of Tin Shui Wai, in Yuen Long.

History of Hong Kong Wetland Park

In 1998, a project named International Wetland Park and Visitor Centre Feasibility Study was initiated by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and the Hong Kong Tourism Board with a view to expanding the ecological mitigation area to a wetland ecotourism attraction. The development of wetland parks will enhance the ecological functions of wetland parks and make them a protection, education and tourism facility.
