Nanning Climate

Facing the South China Sea, Guangxi is China's only provincial-level administrative district bordering ASEAN countries both on land and at sea. Between 22°12′-24°32′ north latitude and 107°19′-109°38′ east longitude, Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the subtropical zone, southwest of Guangxi, south of the Tropic of Cancer, and is located in a small basin surrounded by mountains. It belongs to humid subtropical monsoon climate with plenty of sunshine, abundant rainfall, less frost and no snow,  warm climate, and long summer and short winter. 

Temperature in Nanning

The temperature in Nanning is relatively high and the annual average temperature is around 22°C. The temperature in January is the lowest, but the average temperature is about 13°C, and the average minimum temperature is about 10°C, so it is not cold. The temperature in July and August is hottest with the average temperature of around 29°C and the average maximum temperature of about 33°C not too high. The characteristic is that the high temperature takes a long time. From February to October, the extreme maximum temperature reaches or exceeds 35 °C.

Precipitation of Nanning

Nanning has abundant rainfall, with an average annual rainfall of more than 1300 mm and an average relative humidity of 79%, which often makes people feel hot and humid. Relatively speaking, it is generally wet in summer, while it is slightly dry in winter and has a clear dry and wet season. Summer is much longer than winter. The climate is mild in the spring and autumn, and the rainfall is concentrated in summer.

Spring

It is very comfortable to visit Nanning in spring with the average temperature of 22.0℃ in daytime and 16.0℃ at night. The flowers blossom quite beautifully. From February to April, flowers bloom on mountains to attract more tourists. The peach blossom the azalea make the whole city full of the fragrance of these flowers.

Summer

Summer is hot and wet, especially in September and August. The average maximum temperature reaches 30-38℃. And it often rains that you should prepare sunglasses, hat and rain gear for the tour. However, you can see the dragon-boat races in the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar and taste many fresh fruits.

Autumn

It is very comfortable to visit Nanning in autumn not only the climate, also the festivals, including Nanning International Folk Song Festival and other large-scale tourist activities. To some extent, it is the best time to visit Nanning.

Winter

For snow lovers, winter is the best time to see the snow in Daming Mountain, the only place where could see snow in the south of the Tropic of Cancer.
