Nagqu, located in northern Tibet, is one of the areas with worst climate conditions in Tibet. It is the typical sub-arctic climate zone. Cold and lack of oxygen, dry climate, large temperature difference between day and night, windy weather, the annual average temperature of -0.9 ℃ to -3.3 ℃, annual relative humidity of 48-51% with an average annual rainfall of only 100-200 mm, annual sunshine hours for 2,852.6-2,881.7 hours, dry and cold climate throughout the year, and there is no absolute frost-free period.
Each year, from November to next March is windy and drought period of northern Tibet. Once snowing, it is very easy to become a snowstorm, and during this period the climate is dry, low temperature, hypoxia, windy, and long duration. May to September is relatively warmer. It is the golden season of the grassland. Mild climate, 80% of total annual rainfall, green plants growing about one hundred days or so in a year, all focused on this season.
Nagqu belongs to sub-humid climate is high and cold, windy weather. Vertical climate change is significantly, a larger vertical lapse rate.
Best Time to Visit Nagqu
From May to September is the best time to visit Nagqu. Nagqu is sub-arctic climate zone, cold and oxygen deficit. The climate is dry, windy, with the annual average temperature of -0.9 ℃ to -3.3 ℃. Every year from November to March is arid windy period, dry climate, low temperature, hypoxia wind, long duration. May to September is relatively warm. It is the best time to visit Nagqu.
