In fall, it is cool and pleasant but with great temperature difference between day and night , especially in the late fall(frozen soil appears in late October). Winter is cold and below 0 ℃. Rainfall drops less in Jiuzhangou and more concentrated in July and August.

Spring(March to May)

What to Pack:

There are great temperature difference between day and night. Light sweater and thick coats are recommended for touring Jiuzhaigou in spring. Down jacket is necessary to spend the morning and night. In addition, skin-care product for UV light and first aid medicine are also needed.

Summer (June to August)

During this period, rains will fall heavily, accounting for 80% of the whole year. Green is the theme color in Jiuzhaigou summer. The primeval forests, the mountains, and the bushes are getting greener and greener, which are reflecting in the crystal waters and make a picturesque scenery. There are many travelers due to Chinese summer holiday.

What to Pack:

In the summer, it is a paradise for tourists to escape from summer heat. Due to heavy rains, please do not forget to bring rain gears with you. What’s more, there are strong ultraviolet radiation and it is important to wear skin-care product, sun hat and sunglasses. It is also a little bit cold in the night, so please bring some warm clothing with you.

Autumn(September to November)

Autumn is a comfortable and pleasant season in Jiuzhaigou, which is the best time to visit its colorful landscape. It is very beautiful with multi-colored plants, mountains and lakes that make Jiuzhaigou as a fairyland on the earth.

What to Wear

It is the best season with most comfortable weather. However, the temperature difference is great between day and night, so it’s necessary to bring sweaters and warm coats, even down jacket.

Winter (Late November to February)

It is a fairyland of snow and ice in the winter. Jiuzhaigou is dressed up her silver coat, such as the ice-coated trees, the sword-like ice-waterfalls, the ice on the lakes. It is the off season with lower ticket fare. So winter is the best time to visit Jiuzhaigou for a cheaper price and less crowds. Please note Huanglong Scenic Area may be closed in winter. Maybe you cannot travel the two scenic spots at the same time in the winter.

Best Time to Visit

The beauty of Jiuzhaigou are different in the four seasons. The best time to visit is from late spring to early autumn, especially from September to October, when you’re most likely to have crimson leaves, clear blue sky, multicolored lakes and pools. However, stunning scenery comes with crowded conditions. Try to avoid Chinese National Day that falls on the first week of October, when you will see a sea of people with much higher cost than usual.

Avoid Public Holidays in China

Try to avoid the public holidays of China, such as May Day Holiday(May 1-3), National Day Holiday(October 1-7), Spring Festival Holiday(Usually early February), Qingming Festival(in early April), Dragon Boat Festival(in June). Spring festival and national day festival are the most crowded time to travel. During these holidays, there will be a large crowd in the tourist attractions and you can't really enjoy yourself. Flights and hotels can cost three times as much than usual, and it's hard to get tickets during the Spring Festival.
