Day 1 Xining Arrival
Sightseeing and Activities: Dongguan Great Mosque
Accommodation: Xining
Meals:
Upon your arrival, tour guide will pick you up and then transfer you to your hotel in Xining city. Then we will visit the Dongguan Great Mosque. It is the largest mosque in Qinghai and one of the “four great mosques in China”.
Day 2 Xining – Qinghai Lake
Sightseeing and Activities: Jinyintan Prairie, Qinghai Lake, Riyue Mountains
Accommodation: Qinghai Lake
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
In the morning, drive to Jinyintan Prairie, a typical pastoral area, where there are more than 300,000 cattle and sheep live here.
Then drive to Qinghai Lake. On the way, we will stop at the Riyue Mountains for a visit, which also known as “Sun and Moon Mountain”, which is part of the magnificent Qilian Mountain Range. On either side of the pass, the Ri (Sun) and Yue (Moon) Pavilions were built to commemorate Princess Wencheng’s sacrifice.
Day 3 Qinghai Lake – Menyuan
Sightseeing and Activities: Bird Island
Accommodation: Menyuan Hui Autonomous County
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Get up early to enjoy the sunrise of Qinghai Lake. Then head to the Bird Island, the “Paradise of Birds”. Later move on to Menyuan Hui Autonomous County for overnight.
Day 4 Menyuan – Zhangye
Sightseeing and Activities: Sea of Rape Flowers, Qilian Mountain Grassland
Accommodation: Zhangye
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
In the morning, head to Sea of Rape Flowers in Menyuan. In July, Menyuan is the paradise of flowers.
Then continue to visit Qilian Mountain Grassland nearby. It is different from most other mountains where lives are missing above the snow line, for Qilian Mountain is home to snow lotus, which is a rare medicinal material growing on the snow line.
Day 5 Zhangye – Xining
Sightseeing and Activities: Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park, Mati Temple
Accommodation: Xining
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
In the morning, dirve to Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park, which is known for their otherworldly colors that mimic a rainbow painted over the tops of rolling mountains. Many artists admire this masterpiece which is like a perfect painting on canvas.
Then continue to visit the Mati Temple, an ancient Tibetan temple carved out of the side of a cliff in Sunan Yugu Tibetan region. After that, transfer to your hotel in Xining.
Day 6 Xining Departure
Sightseeing and Activities: Taer Monastery

Today we will visit Taer Monastery, the birthplace of lamaism shamanism founder Tsongkhapa, which is some 25 kilometers from Xining. It is a Tibetan lama monastery with a history of over 400 years with the “three treasures of the monastery”: mural, barbola and butter sculptures.
Then transfer you to Xining airport or train station for your next destination.
