Full Itinerary

Day 1: Guangzhou-Meizhou

Sightseeing and Activities: TaiAn Castle in Dapu County, China Hakka Museum

At 8am, you will be picked up by your guide at your centrally located Guangzhou hotel, then take 4-hours ride by speed train to Meizhou. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a local Hakka lunch. Then you will visit TaiAn Castle in Dapu County, which is an old house built about 250 year ago with bricks. Tai’an Building in Dabu is a masonry and wood structure building, sitting in the northeast to the southwest, in a quadrilateral shape, 49 meters long and 52.6 meters wide, with a wide door ping and a water pond at the entrance.

Visit China Hakka Museum in Meizhou in the late afternoon.

Enjoy the evening walk in the Hakka Town to learn the history about Hakka.

Day 2: Meizhou

Today you will visit the Songkou Old Town, which used to be the first stop for local Hakka people heading abroad. Songkou Ancient Town, situated at the junction of Guangdong, Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, used to be a business hub, and the first stop for Hakka people heading for Nanyang (an old name for Southeast Asia). Situated beside mountains and rivers, the town in Guangdong’s Mezhou city is an original residence for Hakka ancestors migrating from Fujian to Guangdong, the town is rich in Nanyang culture. So Songkou’s architecture features a combination of Chinese and western styles. As early as in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, western-style buildings had been built in the town. Songkou Port was once the second largest port of the inland rivers of Guangdong. With its rich Hakka history and culture, the town has become a cultural hub for overseas Chinese and traditional folk songs.

Then you will visit the tea plantation to learn the history about local tea, and enjoy the break to taste the tea. First, go to the Yannanfei Tea Field Scenic Area, stroll through the green tea fields, and feel the profound tea culture. Then, drive to Lingguang Temple to visit this thousand-year-old temple, listen to the Buddhist chants, and pray for blessings. In the afternoon, visit the Overseas Chinese Enclosed House to learn about the arduous entrepreneurial history and unique architectural culture of overseas Chinese. Finally, visit Marshal Ye’s former residence to commemorate Marshal Ye Jianying’s great achievements and feel his deep patriotism. The entire itinerary is compact and orderly, allowing you to deeply experience the natural beauty, cultural history and Hakka customs of Meizhou in one day, leaving unforgettable memories.

Day 3: Meizhou-Guangzhou

Today you will visit the old village Nanhua Qiaoxiang Village, that is the hometown for many overseas Hakka people, and there are more than 130 well-preserved old houses to display the history.
Visit Hua E Tulou Building and  Dapu TaiAn Building in Meizhou  in the afternoon.

In the late afternoon, you will take 4-hour ride back to Guangzhou hotel where the tour concludes.
