Henan province is the important cradle of the Chinese civilization and Wudang mountain is the birthplace of Taoism and Wudang martial arts. During this tour, we will explore the authentic Shaolin Kung Fu and Central Plain culture in Luoyang and Zhengzhou, then move on Shiyan to explore the famous Taoist holy place – Wudang Mountain.

Day 1 Beijing Arrival

Sightseeing and Activities: Arrive in Beijing

Welcome to the capital of China – Beijing! Upon arrival, met by tour guide and transferred to you hotel. Free at leisure for the rest of the day.

Day 2 Beijing

Sightseeing and Activities: Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City
Accommodation: Beijing
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Tiananmen Square in Beijing

Breakfast at hotel, start today’s tour with Tiananmen Square. Go north through the square and you will reach the Forbidden City. As the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden structure in the world, it has more than 8,000 pavilions and thousands of historic treasures. Then enjoy the lunch.

In the afternoon, head to visit the royal altar of the Ming and Qing dynasties – the Temple of Heaven.

Day 3 Beijing

Sightseeing and Activities: Mutianyu Great Wall, Sacred Way, Ming Tombs, Bird’s Nest and Water Cube

Mutianyu Great Wall in Beijing

Transfer to Mutianyu Great Wall. Great Wall is one of the greatest architecture projects in human history.

Later, we will transfer to the Sacred Way, the first attraction of Ming Tombs. And then go to Changling, one of the 13 Ming Tombs, which is the Mausoleum of Emperor Zhu Di, the third Emperor of Ming Dynasty. It is the largest, original and the best preserved among the 13 Ming Tombs.

At last, drive back to downtown Beijing and drop at the Olympic Park to take some picture from outside of the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube.

Day 4 Beijing – Xian

Sightseeing and Activities: Summer Palace, Beijing Hutong
Accommodation: Xian
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Visit the Summer Palace in the morning, which used to be the summer resort for royal families and emperors. Then experience old Beijing culture in Beijing Hutong alleys.

After that, take the flight to Xian. And the local guide will wait you at the airport. Then transfer you to the hotel and help you check-in.

Day 5 Xian

Sightseeing and Activities: Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Bell Tower

Terracotta Army, Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, Xian

After breakfast, we will first visit the world famous Terracotta Warriors. The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China.

After that, visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. The last stop is Bell Tower. Bell Tower of Xi’an is a symbol of the Xi’an city and one of the grandest of its kind in China which was built during the early Ming Dynasty.

Day 6 Xian – Luoyang

Sightseeing and Activities: Ancient City Wall, Shaanxi History Museum

Today visit the City Wall. Visitors can rent a bicycle and take a ride on the wall. Then move on to one of the best museums in China, the Shaanxi Historical Museum. It is a large modern museum at the national level.

After that, transferred to the airport to take the flight to Luoyang. And the local guide will wait you at the airport. Then transfer you to the hotel and help you check-in.

Day 7 Luoyang

Sightseeing and Activities: Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple

Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang

In the morning, drive to visit the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site – Longmen Grottoes. Located on both sides of the Yi River to the south of the ancient capital of Luoyang, it comprises more than 2,300 caves and niches carved into the steep limestone cliffs over 1km long stretch.

Continue the tour to White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist temple in China and renowned as the cradle of Chinese Buddhism. It was established in 68 AD under the patronage of Emperor Ming in the capital Luoyang of Eastern Han dynasty.

Day 8 Luoyang – Zhengzhou

Today drive to visit the famous Shaolin Temple. With a history of more than 1500 years, it is reputed as the Head Temple of all Zen Buddhist temples in China. And in the year of 2010, it was listed as the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

Shaolin Kung Fu performance is another highlight of this tour, which is performed by the professional performance team from Shaolin Tagou Wushu School.

Then drive to Zhengzhou.

Day 9 Zhengzhou

Sightseeing and Activities: Yellow River Scenic Spot, Shangcheng Relics Site

Today we will start the tour with Yellow River Scenic Area, 20 kilometers away the northwest of Zhengzhou City. It is a section of hills along the Yellow River covered with bushes, trees and a large paved plaza.

After that, move on to visit the Relics of Shang Dynasty, which is most famous for the mysterious pictographs and colorful bronzes.

Day 10 Zhengzhou – Shiyan

After breakfast, transferred to the train station to take the train to Shiyan City. Upon arrival, met by tour guide and helped to check in hotel in Wudangshan.

Day 11 Mount Wudangshan

Sightseeing and Activities: Wudang Museum, Prince Slope (Taizi Po), Purple Cloud Palace, Nanyan Temple, Fantasy Wudang(optional)

In the morning, head to visit  Mount Wudang. W will arrive at Wudang Museum first, getting a better understanding of Kung Fu, Taoism and local customs.

Then take a tourist bus to Prince Slope (Taizi Po). First built during the Ming Dynasty, it consists of a five-storey Prince Tower, the Needle-Grinding Well, a pond, as well as a scripture hall. Afterwards move on to Purple Cloud Palace, a Taoist temple of the Wudang Mountains Taoist complex.

At last, continue your visit to Nanyan Temple, the “Taoist sacred ground”. There are about 150 buildings such as palaces, housing for Taoists, temples and pavilions.

In this evening, enjoy an optional show “Fantasy Wudang” at Wudangshan Theater (paid by yourself).

Day 12 Wudangshan – Wuhan

After breakfast, transferred to Wuhan city and check in hotel.

In the afternoon, head to visit Guiyuan Temple. Built in the 15th year of Shunzhi, Qing Dynasty, it is one of the four best temples in Wuhan.

Day 13 Wuhan – Shanghai

Hubei Provincial Museum

Today we will head to visit Yellow Crane Tower, one of the Four Great Towers of China. The top of the tower has a broad view of its surroundings and the Yangtze River. Then move on to Hubei Provincial Museum. Established in 1953, it is one of the best known museums in China with a large amount of state-level historic and cultural relics, such as Sword of Goujian.

After the tour, escorted to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. And the local guide will wait you at the airport. Then transfer you to the hotel and help you check-in.

Day 14 Shanghai

Sightseeing and Activities: Nanjing Road, the Bund, Yuyuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple

Today visit the bund and Nanjing Road. Located along the Huangpu River, the bund is a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai. Nanjing Road is the first choice for many fashion-seeking shoppers.

After that, continue the tour to Yuyuan Garden, a famous classical garden located in Anren Jie, Shanghai. The last stop is Jade Buddha Temple, which is a venerable and famous Buddhist temple built in 1928.

Day 15 Shanghai

Sightseeing and Activities: Shanghai Museum, Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai French Concession

Today’s tour will start with Shanghai Museum. It is the Museum of Ancient Chinese Art with more than 120,000 precious and rare works of art.

Then move on to Oriental Pearl TV Tower. The ultra-modern Oriental Pearl TV Tower combines ancient concepts with 21st Century technology, where you can get a bird-eye-view of whole Shanghai city.

The last stop is Shanghai French Concession, which was once designated for the French. The tree-lined avenues and their many Tudor mansions in the area still retain an air of the “Paris of the East”.

Day 16 Shanghai Departure
