Why is Chaoyang Park in Beijing so Special?

Chaoyang Park is the biggest park in Beijing. It is also one of the newest of the city’s public parks. Chaoyang Park is a favorite park for ex-pats. It features flower gardens, fairgrounds with rides, including a roller coaster, landscaped areas and several large swimming pools. Bicycles and boats may also be hired at various locations in the park.

Where is Chaoyang Park in Beijing?

Chaoyang Park is located on the site of the former Prince’s Palace in Beijing’s Chaoyang District.

How to Get There?

  • Take Metro Line 14 to Chaoyang Gongyuan (Chaoyang Park) Station. Get out from Exit B and you can see the No. 2 South Gate of the park. Visitors can also get off at Zaoying Station to arrive at the west gate of the park.
  • South Gate: Take Bus No. 302, 431, 450, 499, 502, 619, 650, 672, 673, 675, 690, 973, 988, Special Line 16 or Yuntong 122, and get off at Chaoyang Gongyuan Nanmen Station.
  • West Gate: Take bus 419, 421, 677, 682, or 985, and get off at Chaoyang Gongyuan Ximen Station.
  • East Gate: Take bus 657, 740, 988, Special Line 9 (Inner Ring), or Yuntong 111, and get off at Dashanzhuang Station.
  • North Gate: Take bus 402, 413, 418, 421, 503, 677, or Yuntong 107, and get off at Chaoyang Gongyuan Beimen Station.

Main Attractions

The Ecological Valley

It is a natural valley between hills, characterized by large waters and green. There are a variety of water plants, metasequoia, willow and other moisture-resistant trees growing here. The water source is a waterfall ladder made of rocks.

Binshui Island

Located next to Lotus Lake, it is the home of wild ducks. It is composed of a wooden platform, pavilions and meadows. It enriches the environment with small and medium-sized sculptures to express the concept of nature, environmental protection and balance.

Art Square

It is located near the west gate and consists of a concave elliptical fountain and two rectangular fountains. The square is scattered with exquisite art sculptures, showing the beautiful rural scenery of Vienna, Austria. This is a good place with a strong artistic atmosphere.

Peace Wall

Beijing Peace Wall is located in the east of the park. It is composed of 16 continuous and connected independent walls. The overall external image is a dragon with its head up. The terrain of the peninsula is like a dove with wings. This layout shows the meaning of China’s peaceful rise.
The total length of the peace wall is 60 meters, symbolizing the 60th anniversary of the victory of the world anti-fascist war. Walking between the rough and mottled walls, you can experience sinking, turning and rising. After narrow and spacious, you can climb 60 steps to a bright and open platform, which indicates that the road of peace is not smooth.
