Weekend Hot Spring Trip: Midea Egret Lake Hot Spring Experience

Last weekend, I decided on a spontaneous trip to enjoy the hot springs. I drove from Chancheng District in Foshan, aiming for the Midea Egret Lake Forest Resort (美的鹭湖森林度假区). The journey was about 60 kilometers, roughly an hour’s drive, and the toll fees for the round trip came to 75 RMB. We left around 5 PM and arrived at 7 PM. There was a bit of traffic, but nothing too bad.

Accommodation Experience 🏨

We stayed in an apartment next to the Luhu International Conference Center (鹭湖国际会议中心). Although the hotel name couldn’t be published on Baidu, it was really a great deal! The apartment had an open-air parking lot right beneath it, just 50 meters away, making it very convenient. We booked a garden-view twin room for 200 RMB on Saturday. The room had a huge balcony where we could enjoy hotpot – this was absolutely my favorite part! The bathroom thoughtfully provided conditioner and laundry detergent, so after soaking in the hot springs, my hair wouldn’t feel dry, and I didn’t need to worry about using shower gel for my swimsuit. It was so considerate!

Culinary Journey 🍚

We often eat out during weekdays, but weekends are all about cooking for ourselves! Before we left, we packed a pot, wine glasses, bowls, and chopsticks. Near the resort, we found a market, called the Chuan Agricultural Market (川农贸市场), just a 10-minute drive away. The market was quite large, offering seasonal vegetables and seafood. For fatty beef or lamb, there was a supermarket next to the market. We bought chicken, fish, shrimp, potatoes, and vegetables from the market, along with fatty beef, lamb, and snacks from the supermarket. We spent about 200 RMB. After buying the ingredients, we headed back to the apartment and cooked hotpot – it was absolutely delicious!

Hot Spring Experience ♨️

After eating and drinking, it was time to enjoy the hot springs! The apartment was about an 8-minute drive from the hot spring area, or a 15-minute walk, but with the cold weather, driving was recommended. We bought our hot spring tickets on an app (138 RMB for two adults and one child, valid even on weekends). Since there were three of us, we bought an additional ticket on-site, also priced at 138 RMB. The price felt a bit steep, so I recommend gathering a few friends and buying tickets on the app for a better deal. The hot springs are open from 9 AM to 11 PM, and they provide slippers and towels. We arrived quite late, around 9 PM, so we couldn’t take beautiful photos of the scenery. However, we still had to take some pictures, as maintaining a good figure is not easy. Out of dozens of pictures, my friends had a hard time picking the best two!

Midnight Snack Time 🍲

After the hot spring, I was really hungry. Back at the apartment, I cooked the leftover dinner into a clear broth, as I didn’t want to eat a spicy hotpot so late at night. I opened a bottle of red wine, chatted with my friends about our recent lives, shared experiences, and then fell into a tipsy sleep. It was truly a wonderful weekend.
