Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town in Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie
Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town (洪家关白族乡) is located in the northern part of Sangzhi County (桑植县), Zhangjiajie City (张家界市), Hunan Province (湖南省), China. The town covers an area of 147.4 square kilometers and has a population of 34,327 (as of the end of 2019). It is situated 13 kilometers north of Sangzhi County (桑植县), bordering Furongqiao Bai Ethnic Town (芙蓉桥白族乡) and Liujia Ping Bai Ethnic Town (刘家坪白族乡) to the east, Liyuan Town (澧源镇) to the south, Lifota and Chenjiayan Town (陈家河镇) to the west, and Qiaozhiyuan Town (桥自弯镇) to the north.
Administrative History

Before 1949: Part of Yuquan Township (玉泉乡).

1952: Established as Hongjiaguan Township (洪家关乡).

1958: Incorporated into Bayi Commune (八一公社).

1961: Renamed Hongjiaguan Commune (洪家关公社).

1984: Became Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town.

1952-1998: Daguquian Township (打鼓泉乡) was part of Muyu Township (沐育乡), later named Liaojia Village Commune (廖家村公社) and eventually became Daguquian Township (打鼓泉乡) again in 1998.

2015: The original Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town and Daguquian Township were merged into the current Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town.

Geography
Location
Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town is located in the northern part of Sangzhi County. It is 13 kilometers north of Sangzhi County, bordered by Furongqiao Bai Ethnic Town and Liujia Ping Bai Ethnic Town to the east, Liyuan Town to the south, Lifota and Chenjiayan Town to the west, and Qiaozhiyuan Town to the north. The town covers an area of 147.4 square kilometers.
Hydrology
The town is part of the Lishui River System (澧水河水系). The Yuquan River (玉泉河) flows from Sanwuluo Village (三屋洛村) into the town, entering the Lishui River from the north to the south.
Population
As of 2019, the total population of Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town was 34,327.
Transportation
Hongjiaguan Bai Ethnic Town is well connected by the Sanglong Highway (桑龙公路) and Sanghe Highway (桑鹤公路), which pass through the town. There are also buses that connect the town to Sangzhi County.
History and Culture
Name Origin
The town was originally called Fengjiaguan (冯家关), but the name evolved to Hongjiaguan (洪家关) over time.
