By Air

Nanchang Changbei International Airport (南昌昌北国际机场), the largest airport in Jiangxi, is located in Lehua Town, which is 26 kilometers far from the city center. It was built with the support of the government. It offers more than 116 airlines to most of domestic cities such as Xiamen, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nantong, Guiyang, Jinan, Kunming, Lanzhou,  Zhengzhou, Hongkong, Taiwan, etc. and some foreign countries, such as Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, etc. The airport handled 10,930,000 passengers in 2017.

Nanchang Changbei International Airport is only 26 kilometers far from the city center, and it is very convenient to get or leave the airport by taxi.

There are 4 airport shuttle buses that can help visitors get or leave the airport.

By Train

Nanchang is a significant rail hub for southeastern China. There are 8 railway stations in Nanchang. Among which, three train stations are used by most visitors, namely Nanchang Railway Station (南昌火车站), Nanchang West Railway Station (南昌西火车站) and Xiangtang Railway Station (向塘火车站).

1.Nanchang Railway Station (南昌火车站)

It is about 3 kilometers far from the downtown area. It offers trains to most cities of China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Xi'an, Chongqing,  etc. Visitors can take public bus, including No. 2 (inner line), 2 (outer line), 9, 10, 18 (inner line), 22, 27, 29, 89, 219, 221, 232, 302, 305, and 307 to the railway station directly.

2.Nanchang West Railway Station (南昌西火车站)

It is located southwest of the city center. It offers both ordinary and bullet trains to most cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai,Tianjin, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Nanjing, etc. There is a bus station around Nanchang West Railway Station, and it provides buses to down area, such as No. 50, 168 and so on.

3.Xiangtang Railway Station (向塘火车站)

It provides trains to cities in the Pearl River delta and Yangtze River delta, including Shenzhen,Guangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and Nanjing. Passengers can take bus No. 236 to the station directly.

By Long-distance Bus

There are 6 coach stations in Nanchang, namely Xufang Coach Station, Chang’an Coach Station, Hongcheng Coach Station, Nanchang Main Coach Station, Changnan Coach Station and Qingshan Coach Station.

1.Xufang Coach Station (徐坊汽车客运站)

It offers more than 100 routes and over 800 long-distance buses. These buses are mainly bound for nearby towns, counties and cities within Jiangxi Province. In order to get there, visitors can take buses, such as bus No. 1, 16, 88, 89, 106, 116, 123, 127, 158, 176, etc.

2.Chang'an Coach Station (长安汽车站)

This coach station is very close to Nanchang Railway Station. It provides coaches to cities of Jiangxi and Jiangsu, such as Jiujiang, Jingangshan, Shangrao, Changsha, Jinhua, Wenzhou, Wuhan, Yichang, etc.

3.Hongcheng Coach Station (洪城汽车客运站)

It mainly provides coaches to cities and counties within Jiangxi Province, such as Jingangshan, Jiujiang, Shangrao and so on. Visitors can take public bus No.33, 211, 216, 218 or tourist bus No. 2  to here.

4.Nanchang Main Coach Station (南昌市长途汽车站)

5.Changnan Coach Station (昌南汽车站)

Covering an area of 2.7 hectares, Changnan Coach Station offers 18 routes bound for suburban areas, counties and towns in this city. There are some buses running to this station, including No.89, 128, 150, 158, 201, 218, 235, 239, 519, 526, or 707.

6.Qingshan Coach Station (青山汽车客运站)

By Self-driving Car

The road system in this city is very developed. There are some highways around Nanchang, like Li-Wen Motorway, Chang-Jing Motorway, Chang -Jiu Motorway, etc. In addition, there are 3 national highways passing by Nanchang, including National roads No.105 between Beijing and Zhuhai, No.320 between Shanghai and Kunming and No.316 between Fuzhou and Lanzhou.

By Ship

Nanchang is situated on the Gan River, the Fu River, Elephant Lake, Qingshan Lake, and Aixi Lake. Hence the water transport is very developed. By boat, visitors can go to the Jinggangshan, Tengwang Pavilion, Poyang Lake, Stone Bell Hill, Poyang Lake Bird Protection Area, Dagu Hill and other attractions.

By Taxi

There are more than 5,500 taxis running in Nanchang. The brands of them are different, so the price varies a little. It usually charges by meter. For long-distance travels, drivers may ask for a flat rate which can be flexibly negotiated based on the distance. Usually the cost between Nanchang Changbei Airport and the city center is about 110 yuan.

By Bicycle

As a provincial city of Jiangxi, Nanchang, of course, has a lot of shared bicycles provided by Alibaba. Visitors just need to download an app. In addition, there are also shared cars in Nanchang City. In scenic spots, it's not difficult to rent a bike.

By City Bus

Nanchang has a very developed bus transportation system. It offers more than 210 city bus routes by which most attractions within the city can be reached. The bus system includes downtown regular lines, suburban lines, tourist lines, night lines, express lines and special lines. Generally speaking, the ticket is 1 yuan for ordinary buses and 2 yuan for air-conditioned buses.

By Subway

Nanchang Rail Transit is the first rail transportation system in Jiangxi Province, the world's leading MRT system and the second batch of rail transit cities in China. It connects main downtown area and each satellite city. The planning of Nanchang rail transit project  was officially started in 2009. The first phase of the No. 1 and No. 2 lines was 50,996 kilometers. Line 1 was officially opened and operated at the end of 2015, and Line 2 of the “First Section” began trial operation on August 19, 2017.
