How to Get to Guangzhou
By Air
At present, Guangzhou has only one airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Located in the intersection of Renhe Town in Baiyun and Xinhua Town in Huadu District, Baiyun International Airport, is the second busiest and largest airport in Southern China with lots of routes. The airport operates flight service to dozens of cities in China, as well as international cities and regions such as Vietnam, Bangkok, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.
Guangzhou Airport Transfer
The transportation from the airport is very convenient. Visitors can make a transfer by airport bus, metro, taxi and so on. Therefore, do not worry how to get the downtown.
By Airport Shuttle Bus
There are 17 shuttle bus lines supplying convenient transportation for passengers between Baiyun Airport and the downtown area.
- Peak time: per 5 minutes(06:00-08:00; 15:00 -18:00)
- Off-peak time: per 10 minutes(08:00-15:00; 18:00 -23:00)
- Regular time: per 15 minutes(23:00-06:00)
- Terminal 1: Get on at Gate 1-10 ; get off at Gate 1-10

By Metro
It is the most convenient and efficient way between Baiyun International Airport and downtown by taking north extension section of Line 3(Opening Time: 6:10 - 23:00).
By Taxi
Terminal 1: Outside of Gate No. 2 of Arrival Hall
Terminal 2: Outside of Gate No.50 and No.52 of Arrival Hall
The taxi pack-up point of A arrival is set outside the gate of A8, while B arrival is set outside the gate of B6. The taxi pick-up points of B arrival will be adjusted and increase to two, they are Gate B3 and Gate B8 pick-up points.
By Airport Intercity Bus
The passenger station between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 has buses to other cities of the province, such as Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Foshan, Shunde, Jiangmen, etc.
144-hour Visa Free Transit via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
Visitors are allowed a visa-free stay of up to 144 hours when taking an international transfer via Baiyun International Airport provided they hold valid international travel document and confirmed interline ticket to a third country.

By Train
At present, there are three major train station under service in Guangzhou, namely, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Guangzhou South Railway Station. What's more, Located in No. 1 Zhanqian Road, Huadu District, Guangzhou North Railway Station has been under reconstruction until 2020 according to plan. By then, the combination of ordinary railway, high speed railway, subway, light railway and long distance bus, Guangzhou North Railway Station will become the large-scale passenger transport hub surpassing Guangzhou South Railway Station.
Located in No. 159 Huanshi West Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou Railway Station is the junction of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Guangzhou-Maoming Railway and Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway. Also, Guangzhou Metro Line 2 and Line 5 converged on this station. So it is not only one of the most important railway stations in Guangzhou but the main railway hub station in China.
Guangzhou East Railway Station
Located in No. 1 Dongzhan Road, Linhe Subdistrict, Tianhe District, Guangzhou East Railway Station is the main passenger center of Guangzhou railway. There are three major routes: Guangzhou-Kowloon, Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou.
Guangzhou South Railway Station
Located in Shibi Village, Shibi Subdistrict, Panyu District, Guangzhou South Railway Station, the core station in Pan- Pearl River Delta, is the biggest and busiest railway station in Southern China. Moreover, it is renowned as a world-class comprehensive transport hub, connecting Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Guangzhou Provincial Bus Station
With a history of more than 30 years, this station is one of the largest transportation hubs in south China. At present, it provides a great number of bus lines to cities in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Guizhou, Hunan, Henan, Jiangxi, Shanxi and Jiangsu.

By Ferry
As a seaside city, Guangzhou waterway passenger transport has multiple passenger ports, including Nansha Port, Panyu Lianhuashan Port, Zhoutouzui Port, Zengcheng XintangPort and other passenger ports. Ferry service is available between Guangzhou and several cities. Panyu Lianhuashan Port connects Guangzhou with Hong Kong (about 2 hours & 20 minutes) and Hong Kong Airport Port (about 1 hour and 50 minutes). Panyu Nansha Port connects Guangzhou with Hong Kong Airport Port, and the trip takes 70-90 minutes. At present, there are more than 10 ship routes in Guangzhou, which travel between the wharfs on the Pearl River, making it easy to travel the Pearl River, reducing the burden of land transportation in Guangzhou, which offers the convenience for tourists' sightseeing.

Guangzhou-Hong Kong Transportation
Guangzhou is about 160 km from Hong Kong and you can have several ways to get there, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Those choices include the new fast train, the old fast train, cross-border coaches, ferry, and flying (yes, flying).
By Air
It is very expensive and not a very convenient way to travel between Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Because you need to speed some time at the airport when you arrive there.
By Train
Since September 23, 2018, it is available to get to Guangzhou from Hong Kong by high speed train. At present, there are over 30 pairs of high speed trains in service every day from 06:48 to 21:37 and the trip only takes about 1 hour. In addition, there are 12 pairs of normal trains running daily with the total length of 183 km (114 mi) and the duration of about two hours between Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
By Cross Border Bus
There are modern luxury coaches that run from various pick-up points (mostly hotels) in GZ that cross the border into various destinations in HK inc. airport, Disneyland, and the main districts such as Central, Kowloon, etc. The bus heads from GZ to the Shenzhen HK border at Shenzhen Bay where you disembark (with luggage), cross the border through customs, then get back on a bus to complete the journey.

By Metro
As of December 28, 2018, there were a total of 14 operating lines of the Guangzhou Metro, namely Line 1, Line 2, and Line 3 (including the northern extension of Line 3), Line 4, Line 5, Line 6, Line 7, Line 8, Line 9, Line 13, Line 14 (including Knowledge City Branch), Line 21, APM Line and Guangfo Line, a total of 257 stations and 31 interchange stations , Operating mileage of 478 kilometers; operating mileage ranks third in China and third in the world. The metro lines in Guangzhou which almost cover all the main tourist areas and the interchange is very convenient. The starting fare is CNY 2.

By City-bus
City bus is the cheapest way to travel around Guangzhou. For people who are interested in getting closer to local life style, taking a bus in Guangzhou is a good way. City bus services in Guangzhou covers in all directions, by which you can go to most of the scenic spots in Guangzhou. CNY 2 for common public buses and some are charging by section. Except the payment by Yang Cheng Tong, most buses provide mobile payment, which is exactly simple and convenient. By the way, it is a wise choice to avoid the rush hours.
By Water Bus
Water Bus is very popular in Guangzhou. There are 18 ferries that transverse the 12 routes with some 26 piers. At the peak time, which is 7 am to 9 am, and 4 pm to 6 pm, the ship comes every 20 minutes. Outside of those times, the ship comes every 30 minutes. Equipped with the comfortable seats and the windows of the sightseeing, it’s not only cheap & convenient but also provides a different way to enjoy the scene of Guangzhou. You needn’t worry about the safety at all because every ship has at least five crew making sure everything is ok, as well as the life jackets and seasickness medicine in case of the accident.
By Tram
The city has built its first tram line along the south bank of the Pearl River. A one-way journey – from Canton Tower to Wanshengwei - stops at 11 stations and covers 7.7 kilometers.
As a sightseeing-oriented route, the above-ground tram trip is highly recommended – only 2 yuan fare for any distance on the same day, free wifi, space for bikes and a wide-open view of central Guangzhou and the Pearl River. The tram also has easy connections to the city's bicycle way, the metro system and the underground APM line.
By Trolleybus
Trolleybuses were once just a memory in the minds of some older Guangzhou resident, but now they are back in the ancient southern Chinese city's Yuexiu district.
By Taxi
Hundreds of taxi are standing by in the city. You can take a Wave-to-Stop taxi easily expect some peak time. The flag-fall price in downtown, which covers the first 3 kilometers of a trip, is 12 yuan during the daytime. And after 11 pm there is 30% extra charge. If you depart from railway stations or long-distance bus stations, it is quite normal that passengers can discuss for a flat rate with the driver.
By Sightseeing Bus
It is also a nice experience to take double- decker sightseeing bus with non-stop and directly to attraction sites. Also, there are some culture show in the bus, such as hand painted postcards, paper-cut, old steam trains and classic cars, etc. They are all telling you the old stories of Guangzhou.
Three routes are provided: Ancient Town Line, Xiguan Line and New urban axis Line.
Ticket price: CNY 30 a day; CNY 50 two days.
