Hainan Boao Golf & Country Club

Boao Golf & Country Club(博鳌高尔夫乡村俱乐部 ) is located on the island of Shapo, which belongs to the southern Chinese province of Hainan and sits at the mouth of the Wanquan river into the South China Sea. It winds through grounds measuring 198 hectares in the northern part of the island and is thereby situated near the Bo’ao Scenic Zone with a view of mountains and the surrounding islands. From Bo’ao’s city center, the Boao Golf & Country Club can be reached in just six minutes via the S213 and S219, and in about half an hour along the same route from Qionghai City. The club was established in 1996 and is based on the design by Canadian Bill, which was implemented by Yuji from Japan. He built an 18-hole parkland/links course with par 72 and a course length of 6,609 meters.

On flat terrain, the front nine circle around the island, surrounded by a river and the South China Sea. The back nine, in contrast, lead across the island through coconut palm groves and rural areas. The layout of the course at Boao Golf & Country Club is shaped by water hazards and bunkers. These represent the course’s challenges, in addition to a few scattered doglegs. It is considered one of the best courses in China and is the only island-links course in Asia.
