Xi’an Metro (Xi’an Rail Transit / 西安轨道交通) is the backbone of urban transportation in Xi’an (西安), Shaanxi Province (陕西省). It connects the city’s historic districts, modern business zones, transport hubs, and suburban areas into a unified rail network.

As the first metro system in Northwest China, it officially began operation with Line 2 in 2011. By May 2026, the network has expanded to 12 operational lines, covering over 440 km and serving more than 240 stations.

Today, it connects key districts such as Yanta District (雁塔区), Lianhu District (莲湖区), Weiyang District (未央区), Xincheng District (新城区), and Baqiao District (灞桥区), as well as major areas like the Xi’an Hi-Tech Zone (西安高新区) and Qujiang New District (曲江新区).

It also links major transport hubs including Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (西安咸阳国际机场), Xi’an North Railway Station (西安北站), historical attractions, and commercial centers—making it the most important travel option for both locals and visitors.

This is a major east–west corridor, connecting Xi’an with Xianyang and passing through the famous Sajinqiao Food Street (洒金桥美食街) and downtown Beidajie (北大街).
