After breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel in Shanghai to the airport for your flight to Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region and gateway to the “Roof of the World.”

Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, your local guide will meet you at the exit and transfer you to your hotel in downtown Lhasa (altitude approx. 3,650 meters). The drive offers your first glimpse of the Tibetan plateau landscape—wide valleys, mountain silhouettes, and clear high-altitude skies.

The remainder of the day is free for rest and acclimatization. It is strongly recommended to take it slow, avoid heavy activity, drink plenty of water, and allow your body to adjust to the altitude. Today’s journey is a scenic overland drive from Lhasa (拉萨) to Shigatse (日喀则), passing two of Tibet’s most stunning natural landmarks.

First, cross Kampa La Pass (岗巴拉山口, 4,797m) to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Yamdrok Lake (羊卓雍措), one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes.
