    Accommodation: Hotel in Kathmandu

    Day

    4

    Kathmandu → Syabrubesi

    Distance: ~137 km|Riding Time: ~6–7 hrs|Altitude: 1,400m → 2,380m
Road Conditions: Mountain roads, winding climbs, mixed paved & rough sections

Depart early from Kathmandu as your Himalayan motorcycle expedition begins. The first section follows relatively smoother roads out of the valley, then transitions into winding mountain routes along river valleys with frequent switchbacks.

As you head north, the scenery shifts from urban outskirts to lush terraced hillsides, waterfalls, and traditional Nepali villages. Entering Langtang National Park, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with forested slopes and distant snow peaks (weather permitting).

The final stretch toward Syabrubesi is narrower and bumpier, with occasional gravel and uneven road surfaces—ride cautiously and control speed. Landslide-prone sections may appear depending on season.

Arrive in Syabrubesi by late afternoon. This quiet border village sits along the Bhote Koshi River and serves as the gateway to Tibet (Gyirong Port).

    Evening Tips:

    • Check your motorcycle (brakes, tires, fuel level)
    • Prepare documents for border crossing next day
    • Rest well and avoid alcohol before higher altitude riding

Accommodation: Local guesthouse (basic but comfortable)

    Day

    5

Syabrubesi → Gyirong (Cross Border to Tibet)

    Distance: ~75 km|Riding Time: ~2–3 hrs (excluding border time)|Altitude: 2,380m → 2,700m
Road Conditions: Short mountain ride + border crossing procedures

After breakfast, ride ~20 km to the Nepal–China border at Gyirong Port. Complete exit formalities on the Nepal side, then proceed through Chinese immigration and customs (this process can take several hours depending on traffic and inspections).

Once across the border, continue riding into Gyirong (Kyirong), one of the greenest valleys in Tibet, with forests, waterfalls, and a relatively mild climate compared to the high plateau.

Unlike most of Tibet, Gyirong sits in a lower-altitude valley, making it an ideal acclimatization stop before heading toward higher regions like Saga and Mount Kailash.

    Afternoon Activities:

    • Optional visit to Padmasambhava Cave, a sacred meditation site linked to Guru Rinpoche
    • Short walks around the valley to enjoy rivers, forests, and mountain views
    • Light activity only—focus on adapting to altitude

    Important Tips:

    • Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity
    • Monitor for early signs of altitude sickness
    • Re-check permits, fuel, and supplies for the next long ride

Accommodation: Hotel / Guesthouse in Gyirong (better conditions than previous night)

    Day

    6

    Gyirong → Saga

    Distance: ~102 km|Motorbike Riding Time: ~5–6 hrs|Altitude: 2700m → 4500m
Road Conditions: Mountain roads transitioning to open plateau; mostly paved, some rough sections

Depart in the morning from Gyirong (吉隆), gradually ascending from forested valleys into the vast Tibetan Plateau. The scenery shifts dramatically from lush greenery to wide-open grasslands and high-altitude wilderness.

Along the way, enjoy distant views of Peiku Tso (佩枯错), a turquoise alpine lake set against the snow-capped peaks of Mount Shishapangma (希夏邦马峰), the only 8000m peak entirely within China. This stretch offers classic Himalayan landscapes—glaciers, lakes, and endless sky.

Arrive in Saga (萨嘎) in the afternoon, a key transit hub on the western Tibet route. The town is basic but well-equipped for travelers, with guesthouses, restaurants, and fuel stations. Due to the rapid altitude gain, take it easy, hydrate well, and avoid strenuous activity in the evening.

Accommodation: Saga guesthouse or hotel (basic but comfortable)

    Day

    7

Saga → Paryang → Lake Manasarovar

    Distance: ~493 km|Motorbike Riding Time: ~7–8 hrs|Altitude: 4500m → 4590m
Road Conditions: Long-distance plateau highway; mixed paved and rough sections

Start early for one of the longest yet most rewarding driving days. The route heads deep into the remote Ngari (阿里) region, crossing vast high-altitude plains with minimal human settlement.

After about 3 hours, pass through Paryang (帕羊), a small settlement at around 4700m, ideal for a short rest stop. Continue westward as the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic and spiritual.

In the afternoon, the sacred Lake Manasarovar (玛旁雍错) comes into view—one of the holiest lakes in both Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism. Nearby rises the iconic Mount Kailash (冈仁波齐), its pyramid-shaped peak dominating the horizon.

Upon arrival, take time to walk along the lakeshore, enjoy reflections of snow mountains in the crystal-clear water, and experience the deeply spiritual atmosphere. Pilgrims from across Asia can often be seen performing kora (ritual circumambulation).

If weather permits, sunset here is unforgettable, with golden light illuminating both lake and sacred mountain.

Accommodation: Guesthouse near Lake Manasarovar or Chiu Monastery area (simple conditions, high altitude)

    Day

    8

    Lake Manasarovar (玛旁雍措) → Darchen

    Distance: ~60 km|Motorbike Riding Time: ~2 hrs|Altitude: 4590m → 4575m
Road Conditions: Paved plateau road, flat and easy driving along lake basin

Start early around sunrise at Lake Manasarovar (玛旁雍措), one of the most sacred lakes in Tibet and a spiritual highlight of the journey. The early morning light creates breathtaking reflections of Mount Kailash (冈仁波齐峰) on the lake surface. Many pilgrims perform kora (circumambulation) or simple rituals along the lakeshore. If conditions allow, you may take a short holy dip (no more than 2–3 minutes due to freezing temperatures and high altitude).

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed drive along the lake, with constant views of the vast turquoise waters and distant snow peaks. Wildlife such as wild donkeys and birds can often be seen along the route.

Arrive in Darchen (塔尔钦) around late morning. This small town sits at the southern base of Mount Kailash (冈仁波齐峰) and serves as the starting and ending point of the famous Kailash kora.

Spend the afternoon preparing for the trek:

    • Rent yaks or hire porters if needed
    • Check trekking gear and supplies
    • Rest and acclimatize

You can also take a short walk around town for your first close views of Mount Kailash (冈仁波齐峰), especially stunning at sunset.

Accommodation: Guesthouse or hotel in Darchen (basic but adequate, hot water limited)

    Day

    9

Darchen (塔尔钦) → Dirapuk Monastery (止热寺) (Kailash Kora Day 1)

    Distance: ~13 km trekking (+7 km eco-bus)|Trekking Time: 5–7 hrs|Altitude: 4575m → ~5050m
Road Conditions: Eco-bus road + trekking trail along valley

In the morning, take the eco-bus from Darchen (塔尔钦) to Sarshung Valley (色雄谷) (~7 km), which marks the official starting point of the trek. Here you’ll meet yaks and porters before beginning your hike.

The trek follows the Lha Chu Valley, a gradual and scenic ascent with relatively moderate difficulty for the first day. Along the way, you’ll pass:

    • Prayer flags and mani stones left by pilgrims
    • Nomadic camps and grazing yaks
    • Stunning valley landscapes framed by rugged peaks

As you progress deeper into the valley, the north face of Mount Kailash (冈仁波齐峰) gradually reveals itself—this is one of the most iconic and sacred views of the entire journey.

Arrive at Dirapuk Monastery (止热寺) in the afternoon. Located directly opposite the north face of Mount Kailash (冈仁波齐峰), this is the best viewpoint to admire the mountain up close.

Spend the evening resting and acclimatizing. Sunset here is spectacular, with golden light illuminating the pyramid-shaped peak.

    Important Tips:

    • Walk slowly to avoid altitude sickness
    • Stay hydrated and conserve energy for Day 2 (Dolma La Pass)
    • Temperatures drop sharply at night (often below freezing)

Accommodation: Basic guesthouse near Dirapuk Monastery (very simple conditions, dorm-style)

    Day

    10

Drirapuk → Dolma La Pass → Zutulpuk (Kailash Kora Day 2)

    Distance: ~18 km trekking|Time: 7–9 hrs|Altitude: 5080m → 5630m (Dolma La Pass) → 4790m
Route Type: High-altitude trekking, steep ascent & descent (most challenging day)

Depart early from Drirapuk Monastery (止热寺) and begin the most demanding section of the Mt. Kailash (冈仁波齐) kora. The trail gradually ascends along a rocky valley before a steep final climb to Dolma La Pass (卓玛拉山口, 5630m)—the highest point of the entire pilgrimage.

At the pass, you’ll see thousands of prayer flags fluttering in strong winds, marking a sacred transition point symbolizing rebirth in Tibetan Buddhism. Weather changes rapidly here—expect snow, strong winds, and low oxygen. Keep a slow, steady pace and avoid overexertion.

After crossing the pass, descend carefully on a steep and rocky trail. Along the way, pass the sacred Gauri Kund (古如拉措 / 圣湖), a turquoise glacial lake associated with Hindu beliefs. The descent continues into a valley leading to Zutulpuk Monastery (祖楚寺), known for meditation caves linked to the saint Milarepa.

    Highlights:

    • Dolma La Pass (卓玛拉山口) – highest and most spiritual point of the kora
    • Gauri Kund (古如拉措) – sacred alpine lake below the pass
    • Pilgrims performing full-body prostrations along the route

Tips: Start before sunrise, bring energy snacks, and prepare for extreme altitude conditions.

    Day

    11

Zutulpuk → Darchen (End of Kailash Kora)

    Distance: ~7 km trekking + ~5 km driving|Time: 3–4 hrs trekking|Altitude: 4790m → 4575m
Route Type: Easy valley walk, gradual descent

This is the final and easiest stage of the Kailash kora. Follow a gentle trail along the river valley, passing mani stone piles, prayer walls, and wide open landscapes. The terrain is relatively flat compared to the previous day, allowing for a relaxed walk.

After ~3 hours of trekking, reach Zongto (终点接驳点) where your vehicle will be waiting. Drive back to Darchen (塔尔钦), the base town of Mt. Kailash, marking the completion of this sacred pilgrimage circuit.

The rest of the day is for rest and recovery. You may optionally visit Lake Manasarovar (玛旁雍措) again for a short spiritual moment or enjoy a hot spring bath if available.

    Highlights:

    • Completion of the sacred Mt. Kailash (冈仁波齐) kora
    • Mani stone fields and prayer-flag-lined valley
    • Return to Darchen (塔尔钦) for rest and celebration

Accommodation: Guesthouse or hotel in Darchen (basic but comfortable)

Tips: Walk slowly even on the final day to avoid fatigue; hydrate well and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime achievement.

    Day

    12

    Darchen → Saga

    Distance: ~490 km|Motorbike Riding Time: ~7–8 hrs|Altitude: 4575m → 4500m
Road Conditions: Plateau highway, mostly paved with some rough sections

Depart from Darchen (塔尔钦) after completing the Mt. Kailash (冈仁波齐) kora, beginning the return journey across western Tibet. The drive retraces part of the route past the sacred Lake Manasarovar (玛旁雍措), offering one last chance to enjoy its vast blue waters and spiritual atmosphere.

Continue eastward across the remote Ngari Plateau, passing endless open landscapes dotted with grazing yaks, wild donkeys, and nomadic tents. The scenery is vast and minimal, with dramatic skies and distant snow peaks dominating the horizon.

After passing through Paryang (帕羊), take a short rest and refuel if needed, then continue toward Saga (萨嘎).

Arrive in Saga by late afternoon. The town provides basic but reliable facilities for travelers, making it an ideal overnight stop after a long driving day.

    Highlights:

    • Final views of Lake Manasarovar (玛旁雍措)
    • Vast Tibetan Plateau landscapes and nomadic life
    • Long-distance high-altitude driving experience

Accommodation: Hotel / guesthouse in Saga

    Day

    Distance: ~450 km|Motorbike Riding Time: ~7–8 hrs|Altitude: 4500m → ~5200m
Road Conditions: Mixed paved and gravel roads, high mountain passes

Depart early from Saga and head east toward one of the most iconic destinations of the journey—Everest Base Camp (珠峰大本营).

The route overlaps with the classic overland road via Old Tingri (定日), offering spectacular Himalayan scenery. Along the way, enjoy distant views of towering peaks such as Mount Cho Oyu (卓奥友峰).

Cross high passes including Lamna La (~5150m) and Gawu La Pass (5198m)—one of the best panoramic viewpoints in Tibet. From Gawu La, you can see a lineup of the world’s highest mountains, including Mount Everest (珠穆朗玛峰), Lhotse, and Makalu (weather permitting).

Continue to Rongbuk Monastery (绒布寺), the highest monastery in the world, located just a few kilometers from Everest Base Camp. From here, you’ll get your first close view of Everest’s north face.

Arrive at EBC in the late afternoon. As night falls, temperatures drop sharply, but if the weather is clear, you can witness a breathtaking sunset or star-filled sky over Everest.

    Highlights:

    • Arrival at Everest Base Camp (珠峰大本营)
    • Panoramic Himalayan views from Gawu La Pass
    • Visit to Rongbuk Monastery (绒布寺)

Unforgettable and Memorable Trip to Fujian

We wanted to do a 7-day trip to Zhangzhou, Yongding, Quanzhou and Xiamen. We enquired with Yaso who assigned a very responsive travel consultant, Emma who helped us craft our itinerary. We visited the Hakka T(ulou Earthen Buildings), and even stayed overnight in one of the hillside villages nearby. It truly helped us immerse in the culture and ambience of the area. We also visited the buzzing fishery ports and live seafood markets of Quanzhou and Xiamen, and tasted the very diversified, freshest and most delicious seafood of the two cities. We also visited unique seaside villages like Xunpu, architecturally and historically unique ancient villages like Wulin and Chongwu, not forgetting the beautiful island escape, Gulangyu. We were assigned a very friendly and knowledgeable guide Adam, who is sensitive to our needs and preferences and often go out of his way to create a truly wonderful experience throughout the trip, one that showed us the culture, history, daily lives and cuisine of the area beyond the surface. We were also given a clean and comfortable car to travel around, and Mr Chen, the driver is safe and reliable. Emma was also always on hand and responsive to address any little hiccups along the way, and make our trip safe comfortable, smooth and very enjoyable. A big thank you to Adam, Emma and Mr Chen. I highly recommend Yaso, and will certainly consider them for future travel in China.

With its considerate services, cosy accomodation, warmhearted guides and drivers, West China Tours really gave me an experience that different from the ones that all by my self or with other agencies. It was totally beyond my expectation when I saw our destination Shangri-la. It was such a picturesque place where has clean rivers and blue sky. During my stay here, the visits to Pudacuo national park and one local family under the help and introduction of our guide made a deep impression on me and even gave me an imptus to llive here some day in the futture. Thanks to West China tours, I can have such an amazing and unforgetable experience in Shangri-la. May it also benefits you on your way.

    A mazing time in yunnan

Just finished a six-day trip to Kunming, Jianshui and Yuanyang. Here are some things I want to share. The schedule was really well planned. We didn’t feel rushed or tired at all, and we had plenty of time to sightsee and relax every day. All the meals were halal, and we tried Jianshui grilled tofu, which was really unique and tasty. I usually get carsick before, but the vehicle was spacious and the driver’s skill was good, so I felt fine during the whole trip. Our tour guide was a wonderful, friendly and thoughtful guy, communication was not a problem at all. I’m so glad to have made a new friend in China. Haigeng Dam in Kunming has beautiful scenery, and we even got the chance to feed the migrating seagulls. What I recommend most is the Yuanyang Terraced Fields. It was such a huge surprise for me because I had never seen before! Besides the amazing natural scenery, you can also see the wisdom of the local people in how they make use of the land. If I ever get the chance to visit Yunnan again, definitely will choose here again.

    a wonderful trip memory

As the No.1 Best Seller Yunnan itinerary, the trip is truly worthwhile. First of all, the selection of destinations is very valuable, since Kunming, Lijiang, Dali, and Shangri-La could represent the complex natural landscapes and diverse ethnic cultures in Yunnan Province. Secondly, it is rational to choose high-speed rail as the mode of transport, as we can witness China's rapid development and significantly shorten the time we spend on the road, by the way, as a solo traveler, I could choose to stay in the quiet carriage, which provided me a comfortable place to rest. Then, the tour guide services are worthwhile, which could make our trip have more meaningful engagement, especially in Yunnan, not only the wonderful landscapes but also the ethnic and cultural diversity. What was most impressive about the trip was the Dali discovery. The Three Pagodas was marvelous, and walking along the Erhai Lake S bay could be one of the most leisure time in my life. Xizhou ancient town was also a great place, where we experienced a unique culture of the Bai minority. The tour guide recommended that we try the Bai three-course tea experience, which could be an unforgettable memory. I think it was an essential part to deeply understand the Bai minority’s culture. All in all, this trip was so great that I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends and invite them to have a meaningful trip with me in Yunnan.

    Memorable Golf Trip in Kunming

We are a party of 8 mosque friends who uses Yaso Trip services for our golfing trip in Kunming,Yunnan from 7-11 Sept 2025.We must say that we are pleased of their services from the time of obtaining quotation until the day we were sent to Kunming International Airport.Credit must be given to Justin whom I dealt with.He was professional in his works and during negotiations of the pricing. The quote he gave was very competitive and we are happy with the price Yaso offered us.We opted for a lower star hotel to save cost but we are happy with Kyriad Hotel provided to us.The tour agent Jane was also hardworking and tried her best to fulfill our needs. The Halal restaurants that she recommended us were also good and the food were tasty. The golf arrangements were also very good and we got the play at the top 3 golf courses that we requested to play. The bus driver was also courteous and skillful. We had a very good time in Kunming and strongly recommend Yaso Trip Travel Agent.

    Great time in Lijiang

Overall, we had a great time in Lijiang. The experience with our tour guide, Xiao Wu, was amazing. We didn't just enjoy ourselves, we also learned a lot about the history of Lijiang and China. She was very knowledgeable. The driver was punctual and helpful and the van was very comfortable too. All places we were brought to were very delicious. They followed our request to go only the Halal restaurants. We really appreciate that all the food was pre-ordered, so it was ready by the time we reached the restaurant. Highly recommend Yaso Trip for everyone!
