First, visit Longmenhao Old Street, a six-layer hillside historical district preserving over 200 traditional buildings. Walk through narrow alleys and stone paths while enjoying contrast views between old Chongqing architecture and modern skyline development along the river.

Next, head to the “Eye in the Clouds” Observation Deck (Altitude 520m), one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the city. From here, enjoy a breathtaking 360° view of Chongqing’s layered skyline, river bends, bridges, and mountain-built city structures.

Wulong Karst Geological Park Exploration & Return to Chongqing

Today you will explore the spectacular Wulong Karst National Geological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (South China Karst, listed in 2007). This region is famous for its massive sinkholes, natural stone bridges, deep gorges, and dramatic limestone formations. It is also one of the filming locations of the movie Transformers IV.

After arriving at the Wulong Tourist Center, take a sightseeing bus to the core scenic area of Three Natural Bridges, the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia. These enormous limestone bridges—Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, and Heilong Bridge—span across deep valleys and karst caves, creating a breathtaking geological wonder.

Descend into the valley via elevator to explore the canyon floor, where you will walk through lush landscapes, waterfalls, and ancient rock formations. Along the route, pass iconic sites such as Tianfu Post House (a filming location of Zhang Yimou’s The City of Golden Armor), adding cultural depth to the natural scenery.

Continue your journey to Longshuixia Gorge, a narrow and dramatic karst canyon known as a natural oxygen bar. Walk approximately 2 kilometers along wooden pathways surrounded by vertical cliffs, flowing streams, dense forest, and scenic highlights such as One-Line Sky and Dragon Pool Reflecting the Moon, offering a peaceful contrast to the grand bridge scenery.

After sightseeing, drive back to Chongqing City. In the evening, visit the iconic Hongya Cave, one of Chongqing’s most famous landmarks. Built in traditional Ba-Shu architectural style, the 11-tiered wooden stilt structure glows beautifully at night, overlooking the Jialing River. Enjoy walking through its multi-level walkways, shops, and viewpoints to capture unforgettable night photos of Chongqing’s skyline.

After the visit, transfer to your hotel for rest. (Dinner at Hongya Cave or hotel drop-off can be adjusted based on preference—please consult your guide.)

Note: The Wulong tour includes moderate walking and stair sections. The itinerary can be adjusted according to fitness level, weather conditions, and travel preferences.

Chongqing to Guilin – High-Speed Train & Longji Rice Terraces

After breakfast, transfer to the railway station and take a high-speed train from Chongqing to Guilin (approximately 4 hours), enjoying scenic views of southern China’s changing landscapes along the way.

Upon arrival at Guilin Railway Station, your local guide and driver will meet you and transfer you by private vehicle to Ping’an Village in the Longji Rice Terraces (approx. 2 hours’ drive through mountain roads and ethnic minority villages). After hotel check-in, the rest of the day is free for relaxation or exploration of the surrounding terrace landscape.

The Longji Rice Terraces, also known as the “Dragon’s Backbone”, are a masterpiece of traditional agricultural engineering built over centuries by the Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups. Layered fields stretch across mountain slopes, creating a dramatic and ever-changing landscape depending on the season and light conditions.

    Good to Know:

    1. The drive from Guilin to Ping’an Village takes about 1.5–2 hours. If arrival in Guilin is after 17:00, it is recommended to stay overnight in Guilin before continuing the journey the next day.
    2. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended due to terraced mountain paths and village stone steps.
    3. For travelers with heavy luggage or limited mobility, local porters are available (optional paid service).

Longsheng – Guilin: Sunrise – Longji Rice Terrace Exploration – Transfer to Guilin City

Wake up early in the fresh mountain air of Longsheng, where mist often drifts through the valleys and rice terraces create a dreamlike landscape. If weather permits, enjoy the unforgettable sunrise over the Longji Rice Terraces, when golden light slowly spreads across the layered fields and surrounding villages.

After breakfast, begin a relaxed exploration of the Longji Rice Terraces (Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces). These fields, carved into the mountain slopes by the Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups over centuries, form one of China’s most spectacular agricultural landscapes.

From Ping’an Village, walk along ancient cobblestone paths connecting viewpoints and terraced layers. Visit famous observation platforms including Seven Stars with Moon and Nine Dragons and Five Tigers, offering panoramic views of winding terraces, traditional wooden houses, and deep green valleys below.

The scenery changes dramatically with seasons:

    • April–June: water-filled terraces reflect sky and clouds like mirrors
    • June–September: lush green rice fields wave with mountain breeze
    • Late September–October: golden harvest season with active farming scenes

After a half-day hike, return to Ping’an Village and transfer back to Guilin City. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore Guilin at your own pace.

    Good to Know:

    1. Temperature in Longsheng is usually 2–3°C lower than Guilin City; mountain areas can be cooler, especially in the morning and evening. Warm clothing is recommended.
    2. Comfortable walking shoes are essential due to uneven stone paths and terraced terrain.

Guilin – Li River Cruise – Yangshuo: Li River Scenic Cruise – Yulong River Countryside Experience – West Street

After breakfast, set out for one of China’s most iconic landscapes: the Li River Cruise from Mopanshan Pier to Yangshuo Town. This 84-kilometer journey glides through a dreamlike world of karst peaks, winding rivers, and rural scenery often compared to a living Chinese ink painting.

Along the way, admire famous highlights such as Nine Horses Fresco Hill, lush countryside views, and the iconic scenery printed on the back of the 20 RMB banknote. A simple Chinese lunch will be served onboard during the cruise.

After approximately 4 hours, arrive in Yangshuo Town and check into your hotel.

Yangshuo – Guilin Departure: Elephant Trunk Hill – Reed Flute Cave – Departure Transfer

After breakfast, depart from Yangshuo and enjoy a scenic drive back to Guilin City (approximately 1.5–2 hours), passing along riverside countryside, karst peaks, and traditional farming villages.

Begin your Guilin city exploration with a visit to the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill, the symbolic landmark of Guilin’s karst landscape. This natural rock formation resembles a giant elephant standing in the Li River, drinking water with its trunk. Explore the surrounding scenic park, where you can find ancient inscriptions, small temples, pagodas, and riverside viewpoints offering classic photo angles of Guilin’s skyline.

Continue to the world-famous Reed Flute Cave, often called the “Underground Palace of Nature.” Step into a spectacular limestone cave illuminated with colorful lights, revealing extraordinary stalactites, stalagmites, stone curtains, stone pillars, and natural rock formations shaped over millions of years. Highlights inside include the Crystal Palace, Pine Forest, and Flower-and-Fruit Mountain formations, creating a surreal underground world.
