This 7 Days Joyous Kid-Friendly Hulunbuir Family Tour is designed as a relaxed yet enriching journey through one of China’s most spectacular natural and cultural regions—Hulunbuir (呼伦贝尔) in Inner Mongolia. Built specifically for families with children, the itinerary balances light adventure, cultural discovery, and plenty of free, playful time in open natural spaces.

From the very first step into the endless Hulunbuir Grassland (呼伦贝尔草原), families are surrounded by vast green (or golden, depending on season) horizons where kids can run freely, fly kites, ride horses, and interact with gentle livestock. The journey continues through Asia’s most beautiful wetland—Ergun Wetland (额尔古纳湿地)—and into the deep forests of the Greater Khingan Range (大兴安岭), where wildlife encounters and scenic train rides bring nature closer in an easy, family-friendly way.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip is visiting Aoluguya Reindeer Village (敖鲁古雅驯鹿部落), where children can feed and touch reindeer in a peaceful birch forest setting. Cultural experiences are also woven into the journey, including a warm visit to a local Russian family in Ergun (额尔古纳) and exploring the colorful border town of Shiwei Russian Town (室韦俄罗斯民族乡), where Chinese and Russian cultures meet.

With private transport, flexible pacing, and carefully selected experiences suitable for both adults and children, this tour ensures a smooth, safe, and deeply memorable family travel experience across grasslands, forests, wetlands, rivers, and border landscapes.

Best Time to Travel: May to early October (lush grasslands in summer, colorful forests in autumn)

Enjoy a family-friendly adventure across Hulunbuir Grassland, where children can run freely, fly kites, and experience horseback riding in a safe, open environment. Stay in authentic Mongolian yurts (蒙古包) and experience nomadic life, including traditional milk tea making and grassland family activities. Visit Ergun Wetland (额尔古纳湿地), Asia’s largest wetland, offering easy walking trails and panoramic viewpoints perfect for family photography. Experience a heartwarming Russian family visit in Ergun (额尔古纳俄罗斯家庭体验) with costumes, music, and hands-on cultural activities like painting eggs. Meet and feed friendly reindeer at Aoluguya Reindeer Village (敖鲁古雅驯鹿部落)—a magical highlight especially loved by children. Explore the ancient forests of Mordaoga National Forest Park (莫尔道嘎国家森林公园) via a scenic sightseeing train and light hiking trails. Discover the charming border town of Shiwei Russian Town (室韦俄罗斯民族乡) with wooden houses, river views, and cross-border scenery. Visit Manzhouli Matryoshka Square (满洲里套娃广场), home to giant and colorful Russian nesting dolls and a fun cultural landmark for families. Experience a safe, relaxed itinerary with private guide and driver, ensuring comfort, flexibility, and child-friendly pacing throughout the journey. Enjoy a perfect mix of nature, wildlife, culture, and light adventure, designed to create meaningful family memories and bonding moments.

Arrival in Hailar (海拉尔) (No Meals)

Welcome to Hulunbuir (呼伦贝尔), one of the most beautiful grassland regions in the world. Upon arrival at Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport (呼伦贝尔东山国际机场) or Hailar Railway Station, your private guide and driver will warmly meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Hailar District (海拉尔区), the regional capital surrounded by open steppe landscapes.

The drive takes around 20 minutes, offering your first glimpse of endless grasslands meeting the horizon. After hotel check-in, the rest of the day is free for rest or light exploration.

Families may choose to take a gentle walk around the city, visit local shops, or try simple Inner Mongolian snacks such as dairy products, milk tea, or grilled lamb skewers. Hailar is a relaxed frontier city where modern life blends with nomadic culture, making it an easy and comfortable start for your family journey.

    Accommodation: Hailar
    Driving Time: ~20 minutes

After breakfast, begin your first full exploration of the Hulunbuir Grassland (呼伦贝尔草原). Drive about 1 hour to the most scenic area along the winding Morigele River (莫日格勒河), often called the “most beautiful curve on Earth.”

The landscape opens dramatically as you leave Hailar—endless green (or golden depending on season) grasslands stretch in every direction. Families can enjoy free time on the prairie: children can run, fly kites, and interact with horses and sheep, while parents take photos of this natural paradise. Optional activities include horseback riding, archery, and grassland games (extra cost).

Enjoy a traditional Mongolian lunch on the grassland, featuring dishes such as hand-cut mutton (手扒肉) and roasted lamb, offering an authentic nomadic dining experience.

In the afternoon, continue to Ergun Wetland Scenic Area (额尔古纳湿地景区)—Asia’s largest wetland. A short walk or optional shuttle ride leads to a wooden viewing platform overlooking the vast valley of rivers, forests, and wetlands. The Ergun River (额尔古纳河) winds gracefully through the landscape, creating a stunning natural painting of green, gold, and blue tones.

After sightseeing, transfer to Ergun City (额尔古纳市) for overnight stay.

Here, families can meet and feed gentle reindeer, take close-up photos, and learn about their traditional forest lifestyle.

Visit the Aoluguya Ethnic Museum (敖鲁古雅民族博物馆) to understand the history and culture of this unique nomadic group, often called “China’s Forest People.”

Today, immerse your family in the lush northern forests of Greater Khingan (大兴安岭). After breakfast, drive to Mordaoga National Forest Park (莫尔道嘎国家森林公园), the first and largest national forest park in the Greater Khingan region.

The forest stretches endlessly, with undulating mountains, winding rivers, dense birch and larch trees, and the occasional mist floating above the canopy—perfect for photography and nature exploration. Families can ride the included forest sightseeing train, which has five stops, allowing children to enjoy the gentle motion and scenic stops without long hiking. Don’t miss the Nine Mountain Ranges in One Glimpse (一眼九峰) observation deck for panoramic views of the forest sea.

In the afternoon, continue north to Shiwei Russian Town (室韦俄罗斯族乡) on the border with Russia. Stroll along its rows of well-preserved Russian-style houses, visit local shops, and see Russian villages across the Ergun River (额尔古纳河). After breakfast, continue exploring the forest and grassland landscapes. Visit Haur River Scenic Area (哈乌尔河风景区), named “spring-like river” in Mongolian. Stand on the viewing platform to admire the zigzagging river through lush wetlands, and enjoy a short forest walk to look for traces of reindeer and discover Ewenki culture.

Next, drive approximately 3 hours to Heishantou (黑山头), passing through scenic White Birch Forest, the only pure white birch area in Greater Khingan. Along the way, children can enjoy spotting wildlife and the unique forest scenery.

At Heishantou, interact with local Mongolian herdsman families, try optional activities such as wearing traditional Mongolian robes and hats, feeding lambs, learning to make milk tea, or playing on grassland swings and mini trains (optional with extra fee). For active families, a moderate hike to Sundown Slope (日落坡) is perfect for watching the golden sunset over wetlands.

Unforgettable and Memorable Trip to Fujian

We wanted to do a 7-day trip to Zhangzhou, Yongding, Quanzhou and Xiamen. We enquired with Yaso who assigned a very responsive travel consultant, Emma who helped us craft our itinerary. We visited the Hakka T(ulou Earthen Buildings), and even stayed overnight in one of the hillside villages nearby. It truly helped us immerse in the culture and ambience of the area. We also visited the buzzing fishery ports and live seafood markets of Quanzhou and Xiamen, and tasted the very diversified, freshest and most delicious seafood of the two cities. We also visited unique seaside villages like Xunpu, architecturally and historically unique ancient villages like Wulin and Chongwu, not forgetting the beautiful island escape, Gulangyu. We were assigned a very friendly and knowledgeable guide Adam, who is sensitive to our needs and preferences and often go out of his way to create a truly wonderful experience throughout the trip, one that showed us the culture, history, daily lives and cuisine of the area beyond the surface. We were also given a clean and comfortable car to travel around, and Mr Chen, the driver is safe and reliable. Emma was also always on hand and responsive to address any little hiccups along the way, and make our trip safe comfortable, smooth and very enjoyable. A big thank you to Adam, Emma and Mr Chen. I highly recommend Yaso, and will certainly consider them for future travel in China.

    A mazing time in yunnan

Just finished a six-day trip to Kunming, Jianshui and Yuanyang. Here are some things I want to share. The schedule was really well planned. We didn’t feel rushed or tired at all, and we had plenty of time to sightsee and relax every day. All the meals were halal, and we tried Jianshui grilled tofu, which was really unique and tasty. I usually get carsick before, but the vehicle was spacious and the driver’s skill was good, so I felt fine during the whole trip. Our tour guide was a wonderful, friendly and thoughtful guy, communication was not a problem at all. I’m so glad to have made a new friend in China. Haigeng Dam in Kunming has beautiful scenery, and we even got the chance to feed the migrating seagulls. What I recommend most is the Yuanyang Terraced Fields. It was such a huge surprise for me because I had never seen before! Besides the amazing natural scenery, you can also see the wisdom of the local people in how they make use of the land. If I ever get the chance to visit Yunnan again, definitely will choose here again.

    a wonderful trip memory

As the No.1 Best Seller Yunnan itinerary, the trip is truly worthwhile. First of all, the selection of destinations is very valuable, since Kunming, Lijiang, Dali, and Shangri-La could represent the complex natural landscapes and diverse ethnic cultures in Yunnan Province. Secondly, it is rational to choose high-speed rail as the mode of transport, as we can witness China's rapid development and significantly shorten the time we spend on the road, by the way, as a solo traveler, I could choose to stay in the quiet carriage, which provided me a comfortable place to rest. Then, the tour guide services are worthwhile, which could make our trip have more meaningful engagement, especially in Yunnan, not only the wonderful landscapes but also the ethnic and cultural diversity. What was most impressive about the trip was the Dali discovery. The Three Pagodas was marvelous, and walking along the Erhai Lake S bay could be one of the most leisure time in my life. Xizhou ancient town was also a great place, where we experienced a unique culture of the Bai minority. The tour guide recommended that we try the Bai three-course tea experience, which could be an unforgettable memory. I think it was an essential part to deeply understand the Bai minority’s culture. All in all, this trip was so great that I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends and invite them to have a meaningful trip with me in Yunnan.
