Chengdu Departure & Jiuzhaigou Arrival | From Modern City Life to Mountain Paradise

Today's highlights: High-Speed Train to Jiuzhaigou, Tibetan Plateau Scenery, Jiuzhaigou Arrival

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from your Chengdu hotel and transfer you to the railway station for your high-speed train journey to Jiuzhaigou. The newly opened high-speed railway makes traveling from Chengdu to this world-famous natural destination much easier and more comfortable, reducing the travel time to around 1.5–2 hours.

During the train ride, enjoy the changing scenery of western Sichuan. The urban landscape of Chengdu gradually gives way to green mountains, deep valleys, rivers, and traditional villages. This scenic journey provides a beautiful introduction to the Tibetan and Qiang ethnic regions of northern Sichuan.

Upon arrival at Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station, your local guide and driver will welcome you and transfer you to Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park. The approximately 1.5–2 hour drive offers spectacular views of the Min Mountains, alpine forests, snow-capped peaks, and plateau landscapes. Along the way, you may see traditional Tibetan villages, grazing yaks, prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and peaceful mountain scenery.

After arriving in Jiuzhaigou, check in at your hotel near the scenic area. The rest of the afternoon is arranged at a relaxed pace, allowing you to rest after the journey and gradually adapt to the altitude, temperature, and mountain environment.

You can take a leisurely walk around the local Tibetan-style villages, explore nearby streets, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, or simply relax at your hotel and prepare for tomorrow’s full-day exploration of Jiuzhaigou National Park, one of China’s most spectacular natural wonders.

    Travel Tips:

    1. Jiuzhaigou is located at an altitude of approximately 2,000–3,000 meters, so avoid strenuous activities after arrival and allow your body time to acclimatize.
    2. Drink plenty of water and keep warm, especially during mornings and evenings when temperatures can drop quickly.
    3. Prepare comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket for the next day’s sightseeing in the valley.

Jiuzhaigou Valley Exploration | Discover the Fairyland of Colorful Lakes & Waterfalls

Today's highlights: Jiuzhaigou National Park, Shuzheng Valley, Zechawa Valley, Rize Valley, Five-Color Lake, Five Flower Lake, Nuorilang Waterfall

After breakfast at your hotel, begin a full-day exploration of Jiuzhaigou National Park, one of China’s most spectacular natural wonders and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Your guide will accompany you to enter the scenic area by sightseeing bus and arrange the best visiting route according to weather conditions, visitor flow, and your walking pace.

Hidden deep in the Minshan Mountains of Sichuan, Jiuzhaigou was once a secluded homeland of nine Tibetan villages and remained unknown to the outside world until its discovery in the 20th century. Today, it is celebrated worldwide for its breathtaking alpine scenery, crystal-clear lakes, colorful forests, snow-covered mountains, and spectacular waterfalls.

The park features three main valleys — Rize Valley, Zechawa Valley, and Shuzheng Valley — where more than 100 turquoise lakes, numerous waterfalls, streams, and colorful travertine landscapes create a magical natural painting. The lakes display different shades of blue, green, turquoise, and emerald depending on the season, sunlight, and mineral content of the water.

Your sightseeing journey begins with the upper areas of the valley. Visit Long Lake, the largest and highest lake in Jiuzhaigou, surrounded by snow mountains and dense forests. Continue to the breathtaking Five-Color Lake, famous for its incredible layers of blue, green, and turquoise colors created by different mineral compositions beneath the clear water.

Afterward, head to Rize Valley, considered the most beautiful section of Jiuzhaigou. Explore some of its most iconic attractions, including Panda Lake, Five Flower Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall, and Mirror Lake. The colorful forests, crystal waters, and reflections of mountains create some of the best photography opportunities in the entire park.

In the afternoon, continue to Nuorilang Waterfall, one of Jiuzhaigou’s most famous landmarks and one of the widest highland waterfalls in China. The powerful water curtain flowing across the valley creates a spectacular scene, especially during the rainy season when the waterfall reaches its most impressive volume.

Later, descend through Shuzheng Valley, where you will discover a series of beautiful lakes and waterfalls, including Shuzheng Lakes, Tiger Lake, Sparkling Lake, and Shuzheng Waterfall. Along the wooden walking paths, enjoy peaceful views of Tibetan villages, forests, rivers, and mountain scenery.

After the full-day adventure, your guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

    Travel Tips:

    1. Enter the park early in the morning to avoid peak visitor crowds and enjoy better photography conditions.
    2. Wear comfortable walking shoes and prepare clothing suitable for changing mountain weather.
    3. Lunch options inside Jiuzhaigou are limited; bringing snacks or preparing packed food in advance is recommended.

Jiuzhaigou – Huanglong – Chengdu | Explore the Golden Travertine Wonderland

Today's highlights: Huanglong National Park, Five-Color Ponds, Alpine Snow Mountains, High-Speed Train to Chengdu

After breakfast, leave Jiuzhaigou and drive approximately 2 hours to Huanglong National Park, another UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site famous for its extraordinary travertine landscape.

Located in the Minshan Mountains of northern Sichuan, Huanglong Valley is known as the “Yellow Dragon” because its golden-colored travertine terraces stretch through the valley like a giant dragon beneath the magnificent Xuebao Peak (Snow Treasure Mountain, 5,588m).

Formed over thousands of years through glacial activity, geological movement, mineral deposits, and natural climate changes, Huanglong features one of the world’s most impressive examples of calcified lake terraces. The highlight of the park is Five-Color Ponds, located at an altitude of about 3,556 meters, where hundreds of colorful pools shine like emerald jewels surrounded by snow mountains, forests, and waterfalls.

To make the visit more comfortable, you will take a cable car up to the higher section of the valley and then walk downhill through the scenic area. Along the way, enjoy views of turquoise pools, alpine forests, mountain streams, and dramatic plateau scenery.

After approximately 3 hours of sightseeing, leave Huanglong and transfer to Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station to take a high-speed train back to Chengdu. Upon arrival, your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

At the appointed time, your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel and provide a comfortable private transfer to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, or the railway station for your onward journey.

For travelers continuing their China adventure, Chengdu offers excellent transportation connections to many destinations, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Kunming, Tibet, and other cities by flight or high-speed train.
