Xi’an Arrival | Welcome to the Ancient Capital of China

Welcome to Xi’an, one of the most important ancient capitals in Chinese history and the starting point of the legendary Silk Road. Upon arrival at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport or the railway station, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your downtown hotel by a comfortable private vehicle.

The rest of today is free for you to relax and explore this historic city at your own pace. As the capital of 13 ancient Chinese dynasties, Xi’an combines thousands of years of history with a vibrant modern atmosphere.

Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to explore nearby attractions or enjoy the local city atmosphere:

    • Drum Tower (鼓楼): A historic building showcasing traditional Chinese architecture and offering access to the lively Muslim Quarter.
    • Muslim Quarter (回民街): A famous food and cultural district where you can experience local snacks, traditional markets, and the unique blend of Chinese and Islamic cultures.

Xi’an Historical Discovery | Terracotta Warriors & Tang Dynasty Culture

After breakfast, drive approximately 40 km from Xi’an city center to visit the world-famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in human history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Created over 2,000 years ago during the Qin Dynasty, this incredible underground army was built to protect Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China, in his afterlife. More than 8,000 life-sized terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots were arranged in three major excavation pits, representing a complete ancient military formation including infantry, cavalry, and commanders.

Walking through the museum halls, you will admire the extraordinary details of each figure, from facial expressions and hairstyles to armor designs and weapons. The site offers a fascinating insight into the power, ambition, and artistic achievements of ancient China.

After lunch, return to Xi’an city and visit Da Ci’en Temple, an important Buddhist center during the Tang Dynasty. The highlight of the temple is the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a 64.5-meter-high Buddhist pagoda built by the great monk Xuanzang to preserve Buddhist scriptures brought from India. Xuanzang later became the inspiration for the character Tang Seng in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West.

You may also experience wearing traditional Hanfu clothing, the elegant dress style of ancient Chinese people, and take memorable photos surrounded by Tang Dynasty-style architecture.

    Optional Evening Activities:

    • Visit Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City, a beautifully illuminated cultural street recreating the prosperity and elegance of the Tang Dynasty.
    • Enjoy a traditional Tang Palace Dance Show, featuring ancient costumes, music, and graceful performances.

    Stay overnight in Xi’an.

Xi’an – Chengdu by High-Speed Train | Ancient City Heritage & Panda City Arrival

After breakfast, begin the day with a cultural visit to Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xi’an Museum, located together in a peaceful historical park.

Built during the Tang Dynasty between 707 and 709 AD, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is a beautiful example of ancient Buddhist architecture. Although smaller than the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, it has survived numerous earthquakes over centuries and remains an important historical landmark.

Continue to Xi’an Museum, which houses more than 130,000 cultural relics, including ancient Buddhist statues, jade artifacts, paintings, ceramics, seals, and historical treasures that showcase Xi’an’s long history as China’s imperial capital.

Next, visit the impressive Xi’an Ancient City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, the wall stretches nearly 14 kilometers around the old city center. Walk along the ancient fortifications and enjoy panoramic views of historic Xi’an and the modern city.

For a more active experience, you can choose an optional cycling experience on the City Wall, following the same routes once used by ancient travelers, merchants, and envoys.

Later, explore the lively Muslim Quarter, a historic neighborhood famous for its traditional streets, local food, and cultural atmosphere. Wander through the narrow lanes, taste famous Xi’an snacks, and experience the unique combination of Chinese and Islamic traditions.

In the afternoon, transfer to the railway station for your high-speed train from Xi’an to Chengdu (approximately 4 hours). Enjoy the comfortable journey through changing landscapes, from the ancient plains of Shaanxi to the green mountains and countryside of Sichuan.

Upon arrival at Chengdu Railway Station, your local guide will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.

The rest of the evening is free to relax and enjoy Chengdu, the famous “City of Leisure” and hometown of the Giant Panda.

    Stay overnight in Chengdu.
