4 Days Zhangjiajie Tour with 72 Strange Buildings & Furong Ancient Town

After breakfast, enter Zhangjiajie National Forest Park for a full-day exploration of its most iconic landscapes .

Start with Ten-mile Gallery, where sightseeing trams pass natural formations such as Longevity God Welcoming Guests, Old Herb Picker, and Three Sisters Peaks. The valley offers a relaxed scenic ride surrounded by sandstone peaks and lush vegetation.

Continue to Yuanjiajie (Avatar Mountain) via the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest outdoor lift. Explore misty sandstone pillars, the Ecstasy Terrace viewpoint, and the First Bridge, a natural stone arch connecting two peaks.

Next proceed to Tianzi Mountain, known for panoramic viewing platforms such as Helong Park and its dramatic sea of peaks. Optional deeper exploration includes Warrior Training Horse, where unique formations resemble warriors and horses among the cliffs. Finish the mountain visit with a scenic cable car descent.

Additional Route Extension (Huangshizhai + Golden Whip Stream)

After Tianzi Mountain area, continue optional extension to:

Huangshizhai (Yellow Stone Village) – Front Mountain Hiking Route
Hike up via 3,878 stone steps, passing key scenic points including Flower Bottle Peak, Bamboo Forest Path, Great Rock House, Arhat Welcoming Guests, Heavenly Book Box, South Sky Pillar, and Sea-Calming Needle. These formations are concentrated along the front mountain walking trail, offering one of the most classic climbing experiences in Zhangjiajie.

At the summit, enjoy a loop route around Huangshizhai:

• Small loop: ~1 hour
• Large loop: ~2 hours
  Then take the cable car down the mountain.

Continue to Golden Whip Stream, a 7.5 km / 2.5-hour valley hike inside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Walk along clear streams, dense forest, and towering quartz sandstone peaks, offering a relaxing contrast to the mountain climbs.

Return to Zhangjiajie downtown for hotel check-in.

Optional evening activity: Tianmen Fox Fairy Show, a large-scale outdoor performance staged at the foot of Tianmen Mountain, running 20:15–21:50.

After breakfast, meet your guide and driver at the hotel and begin a full-day journey to Tianmen Mountain, one of the most iconic natural attractions in Zhangjiajie .

Start the experience with the Tianmen Mountain Cable Car, departing from downtown Zhangjiajie and ascending over 1,400 meters. This 7,455-meter cableway is one of the longest in the world, offering dramatic aerial views of the winding Avenue toward Heaven, a mountain road with 99 sharp bends carved into the cliffs.

Upon arrival at the summit, visit Tianmen Temple, a historic Buddhist site dating back to the Tang Dynasty. Surrounded by dense forest, the temple complex showcases traditional Qing-style architecture and is known for preserving sacred Buddha relics.

Continue the adventure with two cliffside walking experiences:

• Glass Skywalk – a 60-meter transparent walkway built along a vertical cliff at 1,430 meters above sea level, creating the feeling of walking in mid-air
• Ghost Valley Plank Road – a 1,600-meter suspended pathway carved along the mountain edge, offering thrilling views of the abyss below

Next, descend via escalator into Tianmen Cave, a natural 131.5-meter-high karst arch formed by mountain collapse. To reach the base, walk down the famous 999-step stairway, a steep descent with up to 45° incline, often used by pilgrims.

After the visit, take the cable car down and depart by private vehicle to Furong Ancient Town, located about 80 km away (approx. 1.5 hours). Evening is free to explore the illuminated waterfall town and enjoy dinner at a riverside restaurant with night views.

Wake up in the peaceful atmosphere of Furong Ancient Town, a 2,000-year-old settlement known for its waterfall built directly through the town .

After breakfast, begin sightseeing along Wuli Stone Street, exploring traditional Tujia architecture, ancient flagstone lanes, and cliffside Diaojiaolou houses overlooking the cascading waterfall.

Visit the Folk Museum, where historical tools, artifacts, and cultural displays illustrate the heritage of the Tujia people. A highlight is the Xizhou Bronze Pillar, a symbolic relic representing peace and the historical Tusi system, accompanied by stories of local rulers.

Continue walking around the town to enjoy panoramic views of the waterfall, especially scenic from the upper bridges and cliff viewpoints.

Note: Water flow is strongest from May to October; in winter and spring, the waterfall is lower but the town remains scenic and atmospheric.

In the afternoon, drive back to Zhangjiajie city for transfer to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport or train station. End of service.
