4 Days Zhangjiajie Adventure Tour with Qixing Mountain: Ferrata, Glass Walk & Floating Mountains

After breakfast, begin your exploration of the magnificent Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and World Geological Park famous for its rare quartz sandstone peak forest landscape. The area features more than 3,000 towering stone pillars surrounded by forests, valleys, and clouds.

Your first destination is Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, China’s first national forest park, where you will experience the dramatic scenery of vertical cliffs, unusual rock formations, and dense vegetation. Take the sightseeing bus to the famous Bailong Elevator, known as the “World’s No.1 Ladder.” This outdoor glass elevator climbs 326 meters from the valley floor to the mountain summit in just about one minute, offering a unique view of the surrounding cliffs.

Continue to Yuanjiajie Nature Reserve, the real-life inspiration behind the floating mountains of the movie Avatar. Walk along the cliffside trails and visit the iconic South Sky Pillar (Avatar Mountain), Floating Mountain, Back Garden, Lost Soul Platform, and the famous First Bridge Under Heaven, a natural stone bridge connecting two peaks.

In the afternoon, take a sightseeing bus to Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, known as the “King of Peaks.” Explore viewpoints such as Dianjiangtai Platform, He Long Park, and Tianzi Pavilion, where you can admire the magnificent West Sea Peak Forest, Imperial Writing Brush Peaks, sea of clouds, and endless layers of sandstone mountains.

After the tour, return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Overnight: Wulingyuan Scenic Area

Today, experience one of Zhangjiajie’s most exciting outdoor adventures at Qixing Mountain, located near Tianmen Mountain and famous for its spectacular quartz sandstone peak landscape, cliffs, and sea of clouds. The transfer from Zhangjiajie city area takes around 20–30 minutes.

After arriving at Qixing Mountain, take the scenic cable car and sightseeing transfer to the starting point of the Qixing Mountain Via Ferrata. Before climbing, professional staff will provide a safety briefing and prepare all necessary equipment, including helmets, harnesses, and gloves.

The Via Ferrata, meaning “iron path” in Italian, is a thrilling cliffside climbing route built with fixed steel cables, ladders, and metal steps. The adventure includes a 168-meter vertical climb along a cliff at an altitude of approximately 1,480 meters, creating an unforgettable combination of challenge, excitement, and breathtaking scenery.

During the climb, you will enjoy incredible views of Qixing Mountain’s dramatic peaks, valleys, and clouds below. Reaching the summit provides a strong sense of achievement, with panoramic views of Zhangjiajie’s unique mountain landscape.

After completing the Via Ferrata experience, transfer back to your hotel in Zhangjiajie.

After breakfast, begin your final adventure at Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park, known as the “Soul of Zhangjiajie” and one of the most spectacular mountain destinations in western Hunan. Located close to Zhangjiajie City, Tianmen Mountain combines breathtaking natural scenery, thrilling cliffside experiences, and cultural landmarks.

Start your journey with the famous Tianmen Mountain Cable Car, one of the longest high-altitude cableways in the world. During the approximately 7,455-meter ride from Zhangjiajie City to the mountaintop, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding forests, valleys, and the spectacular Avenue Toward Heaven (Tongtian Avenue) with its famous 99 sharp bends.

At the summit, explore the mountain’s dramatic cliffside attractions. Walk along the thrilling Tianmen Mountain Glass Walkway, a transparent path built 1,430 meters above the valley floor, creating the feeling of walking through the sky. Continue along the Cliff-Hanging Walkway, a scenic trail built along the edge of the mountain offering incredible views of the surrounding peaks and clouds.

You can also visit Tianmen Temple, a historic Buddhist temple surrounded by green forests and mountain scenery, or climb to Yunmeng Fairy Summit, the highest viewpoint in Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park, for a bird’s-eye view of Zhangjiajie.

Continue by escalator down to the legendary Tianmen Cave, a huge natural opening in the mountain measuring approximately 131.5 meters high. Known as the “Gateway to Heaven,” Tianmen Cave is often surrounded by clouds and mist, creating a dramatic photography scene. After visiting, challenge yourself by walking down the famous 999 Steps to Heaven, or choose the escalator option if preferred.

After completing the Tianmen Mountain adventure, your guide and driver will escort you to Zhangjiajie Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. The tour ends with unforgettable memories of Zhangjiajie’s floating mountains, cliff adventures, and natural wonders.
