This 4-day educational tour is designed to provide an immersive experience in Hunan Province (湖南), focusing on both career education and cultural exploration. Drawing from Hunan's revolutionary history, cultural heritage, and its modern educational institutions and innovative enterprises, this program offers a balanced combination of self-awareness and external exploration. Students will delve into the region's profound historical significance and explore how these influences shape modern careers, fostering a deep connection between historical legacies and future aspirations.
With an emphasis on career education and labor education, this study tour integrates two core aspects: self-reflection and exploring external worlds. Through visits to historical landmarks, elite universities, and innovative enterprises, students will engage in various interactive learning experiences that foster leadership, critical thinking, and career development.
Tour Highlights
- ✨Mao Zedong Memorial: Students will participate in a ceremonial activity by offering flowers to the Mao Zedong Statue and reciting his famous poem "Seven Laws - To Shaoshan," reflecting on the revolutionary hero's legacy.
- ✨Career Exploration: Visit the Mao Zedong Memorial House and explore what kind of spiritual character shaped one of China’s greatest leaders. Students will create a career fishbone diagram or a resume highlighting Mao’s struggles and achievements, reflecting on how his journey can inspire their own career development.
- ✨Yuelu Academy: Known as one of the oldest institutions of learning in China, the Yuelu Academy (岳麓书院) offers a deep dive into the culture of Lake Xiang (湖湘). Students will explore the history of the academy through inscribed plaques and couplets, and take part in a "Detective Challenge" to better understand the academy’s historical figures and its role in Hunan culture.
- ✨National University of Defense Technology: A visit to this prestigious institution will allow students to explore the military campus, learn about its development in national defense technology, and gain insights into military life and discipline.
- ✨Central South University: Students will explore career education practices by visiting one of China’s top universities. Activities include tours of the campus, academic discussions with senior students, and insights into various professions and future employment trends.
- ✨Sany Heavy Industry: A visit to Sany Heavy Industry (三一重工) will allow students to see cutting-edge engineering technology in action, with tours of manufacturing facilities and an introduction to the company’s contributions to China’s industrial development.
- ✨Mango TV and Hunan Broadcasting: Students will explore one of China’s largest media production bases, participate in live quiz shows, and learn about the production of long-form videos. The experience will include visits to the “Colorful Box” media center, as well as opportunities to experience weather reporting and artistic speech in a virtual studio.
- ✨Changsha Culinary Culture: A tour of Taiping Street (太平街) will introduce students to the iconic tastes of Changsha, including stinky tofu and other regional delicacies. Students will also explore the unique tea culture with a visit to Cha Yan Yue Se (茶颜悦色), a popular tea brand.
- ✨Orange Isle (橘子洲): Here, students will explore the famous spot where Mao Zedong wrote his famous poem “Ode to Changsha.” They will engage in activities to reflect on Mao Zedong’s values and explore how those values resonate with modern career aspirations and life choices.
- ✨Yintian Base: At the Yintian Base, students will engage in labor education activities such as spring farming, learning about the challenges of planting and cultivating crops. Additional activities include fishing using traditional methods and exploring ancient techniques like rammed earth construction, all aimed at helping students appreciate the wisdom and hard work of the laboring people.
