Morning | Canyon Exploration & Mountain Scenery
Your journey begins in the morning at Wangxian Valley (望仙谷) Visitor Center. After entering the scenic area, head directly toward the canyon section where clear mountain streams, suspension bridges, and lush cliffs create the signature landscape of the valley. Walk along the scenic plank trails passing famous spots such as Qingyun Bridge (青云桥), Tingtao Waterfall (听涛瀑), and Guanyin Waterfall (观音瀑). During sunny weather, mist from the waterfalls often creates beautiful rainbow effects in the canyon.
Continue to the famous 388-meter Glass Skywalk, one of the valley’s most popular attractions. Standing above the cliffs, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the canyon, waterfalls, forests, and traditional buildings below. Along the route, you can also admire the cliffside guesthouse area built against steep mountain walls, creating a dramatic fantasy-style atmosphere.
Midday | Local Food & Old Street Experience
Around noon, arrive at the traditional food street area for lunch. This is the best place to try local Jiangxi specialties such as Dengzhan Guo (灯盏粿), Yanshan Hot Rice Noodles (铅山烫粉), fried dough wrapped sticky rice cakes, and local river fish dishes. The old streets are lined with traditional Gan-style buildings, lantern decorations, tea shops, and snack stalls, creating a lively mountain-town atmosphere.
After lunch, travelers can enjoy a short break while exploring cultural workshop streets featuring traditional handicrafts and local specialty stores.
Afternoon | Folk Culture & Cliffside Viewpoints
In the afternoon, continue toward the cultural and scenic viewing areas of the valley. Visitors can explore Workshop Street (作坊街), where traditional experiences such as tie-dyeing, tofu making, oil-paper umbrella painting, and handmade brewing demonstrations are available.
Later, walk toward the valley’s most famous viewpoints including Lanyue Bridge (揽月桥), Baige Bridge (百舸桥), and Baihe Cliff (白鹤崖). These locations offer some of the best panoramic views of the cliffside architecture and surrounding canyon scenery. As sunset approaches, the mountain landscape gradually changes into warm golden tones, making this one of the best photography periods of the day.
You may also visit Hu Family Ancestral Hall (胡氏宗祠) to admire traditional Jiangxi wood carvings and architectural details, while enjoying folk performances and cultural shows held throughout the scenic area.
Evening | Sunset, Lanterns & Fantasy Nightscape
As night falls, Wangxian Valley (望仙谷) transforms into its most magical scene. Around 19:00, thousands of lanterns illuminate the cliffside stilt houses, ancient bridges, and mountain streets. Combined with mist effects and glowing reflections, the valley becomes a dreamlike fantasy world often compared to scenes from Chinese xianxia dramas.
This is the best time to explore the lantern streets, photograph illuminated rooftops, and capture the famous night views from the upper viewing platforms. On weekends and holidays, visitors may also watch traditional performances such as Iron Flower Fire Shows (打铁花) and bonfire events.
After enjoying the night scenery, conclude the tour and return to Shangrao (上饶) or your next destination.
