1 Day Shantou Nan’ao Island Coastal Tour

After breakfast, meet your guide at your hotel or designated pickup point in Jinping District or Longhu District of Shantou, then depart by air-conditioned vehicle for a full-day coastal journey.

Begin with a visit to Mayu Island, a small historic island in Shantou’s inner bay. Once used as a coastal-defense outpost, the island is now known for its fishing village atmosphere, wooden walkways, colorful wall art, sea-view platforms, temples, and maritime landmarks. Explore sites such as the Old Mazu Temple, New Mazu Temple, Sea Dragon King Temple, Donghai Putuo Mountain Temple, and nearby coastal viewpoints.

Continue to Nan’ao Island, Guangdong’s only island county, by crossing the spectacular Nan’ao Bridge. Stretching more than 11 kilometers across the sea, the bridge offers panoramic views of the South China Sea, fishing boats, coastal hills, and offshore islands.

After arriving on the island, stop at Changshanwei Lighthouse, one of Nan’ao’s most popular photography landmarks. The lighthouse, rocky shoreline, blue sea, and distant bridge create an impressive coastal setting.

Drive along Nan’ao’s scenic coastal road and enjoy views of offshore fishing villages, colorful marine farms, the famous Lonely Tree, and distant wind turbines on Windmill Mountain. The route reveals the island’s close relationship with fishing, aquaculture, renewable energy, and seaside tourism.

Enjoy an included Nan’ao seafood lunch, prepared with fresh local fish, shellfish, oysters, shrimp, squid, and other seasonal ingredients.

After lunch, join a marine fishing and aquaculture experience. Board a local boat and travel through offshore oyster-farming areas, where brightly colored floating buoys spread across the deep-blue sea. Learn how oysters are cultivated and harvested, observe local sea-ranch operations, and enjoy views of fishing boats, island hills, coastal villages, and wind turbines. Depending on weather, tides, and safety conditions, guests may also take part in a simple oyster-harvesting activity.

Continue to the Natural Gate, Nan’ao Island’s famous Tropic of Cancer Landmark. Its distinctive design represents nature, life, sunlight, and the island’s unique geographical position, making it one of the most recognizable symbols of Nan’ao.

Finish the day at Qing’ao Bay, known for its crescent-shaped beach, clear water, green hills, and relaxed seaside atmosphere. Enjoy free time to walk along the shore, take photographs, feel the sea breeze, relax with tea, or paddle in the shallow water when conditions permit.

At the designated time, meet your guide and return across Nan’ao Bridge to Shantou. The tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or designated location in the city.
