1 Day Chengdu-Leshan Group Tour with Grand Buddha and Chengdu Panda Base

In the morning, meet your guide at the designated meeting point in Chengdu around 07:40 and begin your journey to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Located on the outskirts of the city, the panda base is one of the world’s most important conservation and breeding centers for giant pandas. After approximately one hour of driving, arrive at the scenic park-like breeding center surrounded by bamboo forests and peaceful gardens. Spend around 2 to 2.5 hours exploring the panda enclosures and observing over 170 giant pandas and red pandas. Watch adorable panda cubs climbing trees, playing with each other, eating bamboo, or relaxing in the sunshine. The panda base offers excellent opportunities for photography and close observation of China’s treasured animals in a carefully protected natural environment.

After visiting the panda base, continue by expressway to the historic city of Leshan, which takes about 2.5 hours. Upon arrival, enjoy a short local lunch break before entering the famous Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area. Carved directly into a cliff face at the confluence of three rivers during the Tang Dynasty, the Leshan Giant Buddha is the world’s tallest stone seated Buddha statue, standing approximately 71 meters high. Follow your guide through the scenic area to admire the Buddha from different viewpoints and learn about its fascinating history, engineering, and Buddhist significance. If conditions permit, descend the narrow cliffside pathway to view the Buddha’s massive feet and towering body from below for a truly breathtaking experience.

During your visit, also explore the nearby Lingyun Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple complex filled with traditional architecture, incense halls, and peaceful gardens. Your guide will introduce the religious culture and legends connected to the Giant Buddha and the surrounding mountains. After approximately two hours of sightseeing in Leshan, return to Chengdu by vehicle. Depending on traffic conditions, the tour will end near Tianfu Square in Chengdu city center in the evening.
