Transportation

• Zhaotong Airport lies in the east of the city proper on the south bank of the Jinsha River, operating flights to Kunming once a day.
• Zhaotong's long-distance bus station lies at 144, Longquan Lu, Zhaoyang District. It costs six hours from the station to get to the capital city of Yunnan, Kunming.
• Zhaotong has a passenger port in Shuifu County, operating ships directly to Chongqing, Shanghai and Wuhan.

Dressing Tips

March - June, September - November: People can dress some thin clothes and take some coats or jackets for different changes between morning and night.
July - August: People should dress some cool clothes for it is so hot and someone could take some raincoats and Rash Guards.
December - February: When it comes to Winter, people need to take some thick clothes to keep warm and take some scarves and hats to protect their head.

Best Time to Visit

The best seasons to visit Zhaotong are Spring, Summer and Winter because of the good weather, and Winter is cold for people to visit there.In Spring, you can enjoy the beautiful flowers, in Summer, you can climb mountains, in Autumn, you can get the pleasant of harvest.

Ethnic culture

There are some ethnic people living there, so you should respect their customs and avoid doing something bad to effect their lives.

• Avoiding crossing the fireplace. The Yi ethnic minority regard fire as the most important thing in their lives.
• Do not eat dog, kill dog and beat dog. This is forbidden by the Mao ethnic minority.
