Weihai Attractions

Weihai City（威海市） is one of the most beautiful coastal cities in northern China. Located at the eastern tip of the Shandong Peninsula, it is surrounded by the Yellow Sea on three sides and is famous as one of China’s cleanest cities. With its blue sea, green mountains, romantic coastline, and rich maritime history, Weihai has become a top destination for coastal vacations, island exploration, family travel, and self-driving tours.

The most representative experiences include Liugong Island（刘公岛）, the birthplace of China’s modern naval history; Chengshantou（成山头）, the easternmost point of mainland China known as the “Cape of Good Hope of China”; Naxianghai（那香海）, a romantic seaside resort; and Torch 8th Street（火炬八街）, a popular coastal photography destination.

Marine History and Cultural Heritage

Liugong Island Scenic Area（刘公岛景区） is the historical symbol of Weihai. Known as the “Sea Fairy Island”（海上仙山）, it was the main naval base of the Beiyang Fleet during the late Qing Dynasty and witnessed the Sino-Japanese War of 1894–1895. Visitors can explore naval museums, historical sites, and island landscapes while learning about modern Chinese history.

Huaxia City Scenic Area（华夏城景区） represents the combination of ecological restoration and cultural tourism. Built on a former mining area, it transformed an industrial wasteland into a large cultural tourism destination featuring mountain landscapes, glass bridges, and the large-scale performance The Journey of China（神游华夏）.

Coastal Landscapes and Romantic Seaside Experiences

Weihai has nearly 1,000 kilometers of coastline, offering some of the most beautiful seaside scenery in northern China.

Chengshantou Scenic Area（成山头风景名胜区） is located at the easternmost end of mainland China and is famous as the first place in China to see the sunrise over the sea. The dramatic cliffs, open ocean views, and “End of Heaven”（天尽头） landscape make it one of Shandong’s most iconic natural attractions.

Naxianghai Scenic Area（那香海景区） combines beaches, forests, hot springs, and vacation facilities. Its Diamond Beach, windmills, seaside railway, and romantic atmosphere make it one of the most popular leisure destinations among young travelers.

International Bathing Beach（国际海水浴场）, Banyue Bay（半月湾）, and Weihai Park（威海公园） are ideal places for swimming, sunset watching, cycling, and enjoying the relaxed coastal lifestyle.

Islands, Wetlands and Ecological Tourism

Hailv Island（海驴岛） is known as a “Seabird Paradise”（海鸥天堂）, where thousands of black-tailed gulls and other seabirds gather. Boat tours around the island provide excellent opportunities for wildlife photography.

Jiming Island（鸡鸣岛）, famous for appearing in the TV program Where Are We Going? Dad?, preserves traditional fishing village landscapes, seaweed houses, and cliffside cafes.

Swan Lake（天鹅湖） in Rongcheng（荣成） is one of the largest wintering habitats for swans in Asia. Every winter from November to March, thousands of swans arrive here, creating one of the most beautiful ecological scenes on the Jiaodong Peninsula.
