What to Eat

• Bengrouganfan(甏肉干饭): It is a kind of famous traditional snacks in Jining. It is originated from people Yuan dynasty. With the opening of the Grand Canal between Beijing and Hangzhou, people sent rice from the South to the North. People discovered that eating meat cooked with Beng that is a kind of pottery and rice together is very great. As a result, Bengrouganfan gradually formed.
• Weishan Lake Baked Fish (微山湖烤鱼): Weishan Lake Baked Fish is one of Jining's specialties that is slightly salty and spicy in taste. It is just made of carps, but it is more delicious than that of other places. This is because carps are growing in Weishan Lake and cooks are experienced.
• Sesame Fish Balls(芝麻鱼球): Sesame Fish Balls is a traditional dish of Shandong and Zhejiang. It belongs to Shandong or Zhejiang cuisine. Sesame Fish Balls is beautiful in appearance, golden in color and delicious in taste.
• Weishan Lake Steamed Crab(微山湖大闸蟹): It is a special dish and it’s popular with Jining local people. These hairy crabs from Weishan Lake are considered to be delicious. And Weishan Lake Hairy Crabs is one kind of geographical indications protection products.
• Celestial Duck(神仙鸭子): The Celestial Duck is one of the famous traditional dishes in Shandong province, which belongs to Kongfu cuisine. It is said that it originated from Kong Fangpo who was a descendant of Confucius.

Hushangrenjia Restaurant(湖上人家)

It is located at the third floor of Wanda Plaza. This restaurant offers good environment and good service. And the price of food is affordable.

Luchengwangshi Restaurant(鲁城往事)

It is located behind the Hanting Hotel. It looks very common from the outside, but the decoration inside is special and characteristic. Luchengwangshi Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, and the portions are huge.

Quelibinshe Restaurant(阙里宾舍)

It is located in No. 1 Queli Street. It is very near to Confucius Family Mansion. Some specialties are a little expensive, but home style dishes are cheap. And the decoration of this restaurant is quaint.

It is located at the junction of Datong Road and Jingxuan Middle Road. It is one of the most popular restaurants with visitors. It offers a great variety of dishes. The portions are huge and the price of food is very low.
