  • Changde Climate

Changde is adjacent to Dongting Lake to the east, Yiyang to the south, Wuling and Xuefeng Mountains to the west, and Hubei Province to the north. It is known as “the throat of Sichuan and Guizhou, and the portal of Yunnan and Guizhou". What's more, it is an important city in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Dongting Lake Eco-economic Circle.

    Changde Climate

Changde City is a transition zone from the mid-subtropical humid monsoon climate to the northern subtropical humid monsoon climate. The climate in Changde is warm with four distinct seasons, short spring and autumn, and long summer and winter.

    Changde Temperature

In general, the hot season is from May to September, which lasts for about 4 months with an average daily high temperature of above 83°F. The hottest month is July with the highest temperature of about 92°F. What's more, the coldest season is from December to March with an average of below 58°F. The coldest month is January with the lowest temperature of about 32°F.

    Changde Precipitation

In general, the wet season is from February to August, which last for about 6 months with a greater than 28% chance of being wet. In April, it is easy to get wet. The dry season is from August to February of the next year, which lasts for about 6 months.

    Changde Humidity

In general, the humidity comfort level on the dew point is the important factor to balance the humidity. People will feel dry when at lower dew points and feel more humid when at higher dew points. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night. The muggy period is from May to October, which lasts for 5 months.

    Changde Wind

The wind experienced at any given location is highly dependent on local topography and other factors, and instantaneous wind speed and direction vary more widely than hourly averages. The windy season is from February to May, which lasts about 3 months with the average wind speed of more than 7.1 mile/hour. The windless season is from May to January of the next year, which lasts about 8 months with the average wind speed of 6.3 mile/hour.

    Best Time to Visit Changde

The best time of year to visit Changde for general outdoor tourist activities is from mid September to mid October. The best time to visit Changde for hot-weather activities is from early to mid June and from early August to mid September. In a word, spring and autumn are the best time to visit Changde. In spring, visitors can see the peach blossom all over the mountains, especially in Taohuayuan Scenic Area, which holds a peach flower festival in late March.
