Huangshi (黄石) is located in southeastern Hubei Province on the southern bank of the Yangtze River. Known as a city “built because of mining and developed through industry,” Huangshi has more than 3,000 years of mining and metallurgy history and over 100 years of modern industrial heritage. As one of the first open cities along the Yangtze River approved by the State Council and an important member of the Wuhan Metropolitan Area, Huangshi is now transforming from a traditional industrial city into a modern cultural tourism destination. Geography and Location

Huangshi (黄石) is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and occupies an important geographical position in eastern Hubei. It is a key city connecting the Wuhan metropolitan area with southeastern Hubei and neighboring Jiangxi Province.

The city borders Huanggang (黄冈) across the Yangtze River to the east, connects with Wuhan (武汉) and Xianning (咸宁) to the west, neighbors Jiujiang (九江) in Jiangxi Province to the south, and links with Ezhou (鄂州) to the north.

Huangshi has a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall, and sufficient sunshine.
