Best Time to Visit

Qiandongnan belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate, with no severe cold in winter, no intense heat in summer, obvious rain season and much rainfall. Qiandongnan is suitable for tourism in four seasons. But tourists usually travel to Qiandongnan in spring, summer and autumn, when the temperature is higher than winter. It is notable that the rainy season in Kaili usually lasts for half a year. If you don't like there are too many rainy days, go to travel in autumn. In autumn, the rain doesn't fall as much as in summer, the temperature will not as low as in winter.  

Packing Tips

• The climate of Qiandongnan belongs to subtropical humid climate, with abundant precipitation, remember to bring umbrella and other rain gears.
• As Qiandongnan is in mountainous area, the temperature difference between morning and evening is relatively large, and it is cooler in the morning and evening. Coat is necessary when traveling. Besides, there are many mountain roads in the scenic area, please wear shoes that are convenient for walking. 
• Sunglasses and sun cream are necessary for the high altitude in this region and strong ultraviolet ray.

Other Tips

• Featured food is essential in every region. Due to moist climate as well as sour and spicy food in Qiandongnan, please be careful not to eat too much except the three meals of the day, so as not to cause discomfort.
• Qiandongnan is home to many ethnic minorities, please respect the customs and habits, life and belief of minorities.
• Most of the Miao people in Qiandongnan are good at drinking and hospitable, and most of the farmers can make their own sweet wine and white spirit(shochu), among which shochu is the most common. During the banquet, the host will tried to urge the guest to drink. If the guest does not drink or does not drink properly, the host will not be happy. So if you really can't drink, it's best to start by saying clearly and never to touch a drop.
• The ethnic crafts in Qiandongnan are extremely beautiful. There are Miao batik and Dong brocade, which were regarded as tributes as early as the song dynasty, as well as Miao and Dong embroidery, ethnic costumes and jewelry with distinctive characteristics. All have high artistic value and collection value.
